LFR Loot Rolling Needs a Serious Overhaul

yes lol ppl just wont say it. they need to have a spot where u roll need for tmog only, and then let other ppl roll against the tmog, but the actual gear itself needs to be to the player who needs it for upgrade

the issue now is ppl are battling for tmogs AND upgrades

Nothing to fix. I think it’s hilarious watching someone roll need on everything and win.

Now that we have delves, who cares about LFR loot.

I can’t wait to roll need in the next section of lfr this week

the real joke in this thread is people actually using LFR as a gearing path.

there are so many better ways to gear.

It’s ironic that you expect these over geared people would come to lfr to carry if they had no chance at loot.

They are doing as much, if not more, work than you and should have a chance at loot even if it’s transmog. Maybe that loot you think isn’t an upgrade actually is because it has better stats.

LFR would be even more painful if they only people there were ungeared toons who likely won’t know the fight or bother to do the mechanics.

Be careful what you wish for.

Lfr is a pug. Rolling need when its available is expected. If you want loot rules beyond the expected standard you should make that known before the raid starts so everyone else agrees to those loot rules.

If you want guaranteed loot upgrades without joining an organized group, do delves for 603 gear and a weekly vault unlock for 616, plus all the wq and weeklies that give cache upgrades.

PL was toxic trash and I couldn’t even trade the crap I got. But I constantly got harassment whispers from people outraged that I won a roll. My ignore list was always overly full.

PL will not return because it encouraged group stacking and was even a problem in LFR.

The system was crap. The easy way to fix the transmog vs gear piece is to make the transmog roll give the appearance and the need roll give the actual gear piece.

Sad but true. I out geared LFR before it came out just from doing the campaign.

Bring back personal loot.

if you like to customize your DBM alerts in a chill environment, yes.

if you’re looking for a bossfight, no.

it requires from you the same level of interaction as watching the RWF. The level of input from me is zero, I am sure the bots could’ve won the battle without me there. But I am in a raid, seeing the final boss… For what the intention is, it’s working fine.

it’s basically what LFR was promissed to be. See the end cinematic and conclude the story.

it’s fine. nothing wrong with it.

You shouldn’t be upset with the player that beat you out but instead with the brain dead “transmog” roll system Blizzard added. There should be no roll for transmog, you should just be able to select it on any item that drops and get it. Due to how the correct system works, if they actually wanted the transmog there only real option is to “need” it because they will automatically lose to actual need rolls.

And to be clear, ilvl doesn’t automatically mean an item is better.

I say this in these type of threads, you should stop inspecting people in lfr.

Item level is not, and never has been, a good indicator of player power. The only time it does indicate player power is when comparing two copies of the same item, which is conveniently exactly how group loot works. If the system disallowed players from rolling need on items based solely on item level, there would be players disallowed from rolling on upgrades.

For some, yes. Others just drastically misunderstand how each loot system works. Ironically, in a raid with random class distribution, group loot is going to be better at increasing the chances for players who want upgrades to get the loot due to rolling protections that don’t exist in personal loot.

Except this is just blatantly untrue. The current form of group loot has the most protections for players looking for upgrades than any other system we’ve ever had (outside of master loot with an honest master looter).

I believe that’s only true if it was an ilvl upgrade. You could trade it if it was not.

It worked much better in LFR than the current system. BWL TW for example you seem much more likely to get an item compared to LFR and don’t have to wait around to find out.

Well there’s a couple things. 584 gear can be upgraded to 606, and even if they have 600+ ilevel, that slot might be weak. Or it might be a tier token which is easily worth downgrading a track in quality if it gives a set bonus. Or it might be a bis trinket which can be stronger than higher ilevel trinkets because of how they interact with class mechanics.

Yes, it can feel bad and I know some people roll on anything, but there are a number of instances when lower ilevel pieces are better for people.

Yeah. And 99% of the time, I didn’t want the crap they gave me with horrible stats on those rings and necks. But I couldn’t trade it, so it got vendored— all while people harassed me over it.

No it did not. It stopped degenerate group stacking and it stopped the harassment whispers, plus I can now pass on crap I don’t want.

It does have some benefits compared to PL. There were a number of flaws with PL just like there are flaws with the current loot system. I personally think the flaws with PL were worse.

Pro tip: Loot the boss, but dont loot any gear that you might win. Collect it hassle free in the mail after you’re done.

Like what?
The only flaw I can think of is lack of trading, but even then we used to have a time when we could trade with PL with 0 restrictions.
Meanwhile, GL is full of problems.

Nope. That bugged out on a lot of us and we lost our loot.
