LFG terms explained

Are we learning yet?

Screw you then :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t tell you how many Alliance warriors and Paladins I tried to get that thing with.

Did it last you till Verigan’s?

I did not get Verigan’s. I was completely unfamiliar with Alliance quests, and didn’t even find out about it until I was around level 50.

Oh no honey :frowning:

I’m really sorry you missed out on that. That quest has great lore and if you get that bro at 20 and put fiery or +7 damage on it it will last you till level 40.

You should try to experience that quest sometime on an alt or something if you’re bored.

It’s awesome. Really makes you feel like a Paladin.

Edit: That and the warlock quest are the main way of pulling Alliance to SFK, also, so, there’s that :stuck_out_tongue:

Watch out for RFK and RFD, because there’s two different Razorfen dungeons that have slightly different level ranges.

I can’t keep fixing your typos, man.

That’s because it’s not difficult for anyone with a functioning brain.

Sounds to me like you’re just as rabid as the rest.

The VC’ers more disingenuous, in my opinion. Claiming that it’s “confusing” because they both share the same acronym is ludicrous, because you can easily ascertain from the context which is which. A level 19 druid in Westfall is not advertising heals for Dire Maul, nor is a level 60 Warrior LF DPS for Deadmines. If context is too confusing for you, then you should probably just give up on language as a concept altogether.

The irony.

As below shows you some dungeons are very large.

For example BRD is like a city with prisons, throne room, lake of fire, mining areas, great halls, a bar, and much more.

I love the classic dungeons. The reason ppl skip parts because it could take hours if not.

Since this thread has been violently hijacked by the DM vs VC debaters, I’ll chip in and say that I like calling deadmines DM VC. There is no confusion with that, and if you can put a descriptor in the name of diremaul wing (DM:E, DM:W, DM:TRIB), you can put a descriptor in the name of Deadmines as well. The precedent for using the boss name in the descriptor is already there: Mara Princess.

Tl;dr: DM VC

gnomes are supposed to have increased intellect, you seem to have missed that racial.

deadmines = vc. this isn’t hard.

Then what is Dire Maul?

But that precedent exists… it is for places with wings.

Mara :Princess, DM W, BRD Anger.

Let me know when you can skip to just VC.

Dungeons:

  • Ragefire Chasm = RFC
  • Wailing Caverns = WC
  • Deadmines = VC (VanCleef)
  • Shadowfang Keep = SFK
  • Blackfathom Deeps = BFD
  • Stockade = Stocks
  • Gnomeregan = Gnomer
  • Razorfen Kraul = RFK
  • Scarlet Monastery = SM, separated by four sections:
  1. Scarlet Monastery: Graveyard = SMGY
  2. Scarlet Monastery: Library = SM Lib
  3. Scarlet Monastery: Armory = SM Arm
  4. Scarlet Monastery: Cathedral = SM Cath
  • Razorfen Downs = RFD
  • Zul’Farrak = ZF, which has a common run other than standard/quests:
  1. Zombie runs, which rush up to the zombie room, clear that out, and reset. These groups often require mages.
  • Maraudon = Mara, which has a common variant other than normal/quests:
  1. Princess runs, which use the Maraudon skip and aim to do Princess (and maybe a couple other bosses nearby) and reset
  • Temple of Atal’Hakkar = ST or Sunken Temple
  • Blackrock Depths = BRD, which has several variants depending on what the group wants, some of the most common being:
  1. Arena runs only go up to the arena
  2. AAA runs do Arena, General Angerforge, and Golem Lord Argelmach
  3. Angerforge runs aim to rush to General Angerforge and reset; these will almost always include the arena for the sake of the hourly instance limit
  4. Lava runs take a skip route through the lava
  5. Jailbreak runs are doing the Onyxia attunement / Windsor escort
  • Blackrock Spire, which is separated as two sections:
  1. Lower Blackrock Spire = LBRS, which is generally run as a 5-man and does not require attunement.
  2. Upper Blackrock Spire = UBRS, which is generally run as a 10-man and requires someone in the group to have the Seal of Ascension. The most common runs you’ll see here are Jed/Rend runs (where you only go up to the arena to kill Rend) and full runs.
  • Dire Maul = DM, separated as three sections:
  1. Dire Maul East = DM E, which does not require a key. The most common version of this is “jump runs” which jump down to clear out the lashers, pick herbs, kill a couple bosses for drops, check books, and get to the mining nodes at the end.
  2. Dire Maul West = DM W, which requires someone in the group to have the Crescent Key (obtained from DM E).
  3. Dire Maul North = DM N, which requires someone in the group to have the Crescent Key. The two versions of this run are tribute/trib runs and non-tribute runs. Tribute runs require special conditions to be met and ends in special loot and buffs from the end of the run, non-tribute runs clear through all the bosses in DM N.
  • Scholomance = Scholo
  • Stratholme = Strat, which is separated by side:
  1. Strat live, which can start at either the main entrance or (usually) service entrance. These runs aim to get to the Scarlet Crusade area for gear and (hopefully) righteous orbs. Righteous orb distribution is often separated as RR (round robin) or RR first reserved for tank (first orb goes to tank, then RR).
  2. Strat UD, which starts at the service entrance and clears through the undead side to reach Baron Rivendare.
Note: any runs starting at the service entrance require the Key to the City from a boss in Stratholme.

Any of these dungeons can be advertised as “quest runs” which aim to complete every quest in the dungeon (or as many as possible).

Current raids:

  • Molten Core = MC
  1. Fresh runs are starting from the beginning with no current lockout
  2. “Starting at X” are at a certain boss and you WILL be locked to the instance upon entering without warning
  • Ony = Onyxia’s Lair

Common terms to look out for when leveling:

  • Carry runs / carries = groups that are paying for a carry from someone and looking for more to even it out or more to pay for the run. One major difference with a very similar term: “have a level xx carry” or “have a carry” are often in reference to a level 60 filling a slot to help their friend through the dungeon and not necessarily full carries.
  • X reserved = X (item) reserved by the group leader. This is more common later in leveling and at cap. If something is reserved, people join with the understanding that they will not have a chance at rolling for the item that has been reserved by the group leader. This is a decision that any group leader can make as it is their group that they are putting in the effort to form.
  • Rep farms = reputation farms, this will usually require committing genocide against the enemy of whatever rep you’re farming… but you get to do it with a group of friends!

That’s most of it, anyway. I hope this helps.

DM/E, DM/W, DM/N.

Thus.

Wait a minute, I’m confused. A farm is a place where you grow livestock. How can the same word have two different meanings?

I think we should change “farming” to another word. It’s too confusing.

This is OP’s first proper lesson on interacting with the WoW community.

You are one mean cow! Sending a 23 into any of those would be a massacre! It does remind me of a lowbie toon in my guild that was wanting to to tank BRD. He meant Blackfathom Deeps but I couldn’t resist asking if we’re just supposed to throw him at bosses and DPS them down while he’s getting eaten.

If that makes you feel better about your idiocy.

Says the man who can’t understand context.

I suppose homonyms and metaphors are also too “confusing” for you.

I would say yes, you’re right, I didn’t mention level requirements, but I guess now this is a DM vs VC thread. lol

Seriously, DM vs. VC? Who’s life is so pathetic they’ll argue that? If someone is in 19, in Westfall, I’m going to assume they don’t mean Dire Maul. These are the same people that were corrected by their 2nd grade teachers when asking if they can borrow a pencil.
