the LFG everyone is getting all angry about is a retail addon, that was ran in retail servers, by someone playing a dark iron dwarf who got void elves to join his group (said person who is also a streamer who literally only has to say “hey twitch i need a group” and hundreds of people will be at his beck and call)
What’s hilarious is I can see the number of people following the links and it’s astounding how many are doing that. You just know a large amount of people are also downloading it to try it out.
The more topics on this the more widespread ClassicLFG will be.
im not crying im laughing bc people think these addons will not be in classic. why complain on forums if the addons where against TOS they will be removed. If not they will be in the game its pretty simple
Don’t need to, you have no clue what you’re actually talking about. Group invite addons were always a thing. Guilds used the hell out of them for filling raids. There have always been autoinvite addons where you could whisper someone with the word invite and it would invite you. They aren’t going to kill that functionality. So that leaves you with blocking chat log parsing, which isn’t going to happen.
The more widespread it is I think the better chance we have of removing it.
Spread the knowledge away.
Also, if it is allowed in the game, we might as well let the entire player base know of the advantage they can have. I don’t want the addon, but I’m all for being fair to others.
I’m aware that autonvite addons have always existed. I’m also aware that LFG addons should not exist, and that breaking autoinvite functionality is much less of a cost to deal with them than removing chat parsing.
If you need to undergo an amputation, I would rather lose a finger than a hand.
You can choose to think it but the fact is that a little-known addon that few people use is much easier to get rid of than one which a large amount of people love and use every day. More posts mean ClassicLFG will become used by far more people.
They already existed in a primordial form during vanilla… There were PvP addons like it… Given more time, LFG would have been implemented in vanilla and people would have used it then.
Thankfully, the anti-lfg addon people are a very small minority, but you guys tend to be extremely vocally loud.
Given infinite time, a lot of things would have happened.
But they didn’t, so they are not part of our particular remit. I don’t really care what might have happened in alternate universes. I’m more interested in what actually did happen; and what did happen is that while LFG-style addons did exist, they were not as powerful or as widely used as they can be today, and the effect on the experience is very different as a result.
I disagree. I think the more people that use it equates to more people complaining about it. Being quiet about it does nothing to help get rid of it, but I can see why you are trying to convince people otherwise.
And if they don’t break it and people want it, by all means, they should be aware of it.
If the LFG addon is allowed then a addon that auto attacks stuff and auto loots things should be allowed. Both are automating things that were not supposed to be automated. Spamming chat by a bot is against ToS
