I haven’t noticed this, but all that the contract was is a reminder of the rules that have existed since 2004, and some suggestions of how to follow them.
…and as you can see…this was spot on target, lololol
Feels like they need my attention or something. lol
yeah…I will generally follow tanks that do know the run at least dozen times before i try tanking something myself.
As far as healing, they ruined that for me back early BFA. I dont heal for current anymore at all.
I go heal in leveling dungeons to help out what is likely a lot of newer players learning the game.
DPS is all the same. Braindead banging down targets. No real challenge unless one is trying to top the Details meter, lol.
very good advice.
Some knowledge of the run prior to running it is always a good idea…even if its just a basic map and some details about boss mechanix.
though when I asked for TANKS to learn a basic path thru dungeons in a thread I made maybe a week ago, this group lost their minds demanding that tanks shouldnt have to bother
so either a horrid double standard in here, or Im correct in saying that some follow me around just to find something they can disagree with…which I suspect is actually the case
All I saw them do, in this thread, was get a bit heated when others started being rude to them. You could maybe argue a lot of folks on the internet need to calm down, me included, but it’s not really a gotcha.
never claimed it was a gotcha.
i find her mannerisms repulsive to look at and makes the discourse veer firmly into such a negative cesspool that people who are having civil discussions are drowned out.
You either didn’t look that closely, or you saw only what you wanted to see.
This is what that group does.
You say X.
They scream Y.
You reciprocate.
they play vicim.
been in here for YEARS watching the same mushroom cloud with about 10-15 posters. Its always the same Modus Operandi. And why they are on my ignore list.
theyre not wasting MY time in here.
Let’s just assume that they’re arguing in bad faith or being uncivil or whatever. If someone just goes around saying “It’s not against the rules. Get over it,” are they really looking for a civil, nuanced, conversation, either?
I tried a few posts above to make some new points, but I mostly just got the same stuff. I tried saying “Okay, it’s not abuse. It’s just unreasonable.” I got told by one person “It’s just a vote kick you don’t like.” So by the way they talk about it, it’s like they don’t take the topic seriously and aren’t interested in nuance.
Because everyone has different definitions of what’s reasonable.
But on the main topic, I’ve yet to see an idea for a rules change that would 1) actually do anything and 2) doesn’t create more problems than it solves. As such, I’ve concluded that it has to exist this way for the system to function.
sounds like they are pointing out facts. sometimes people really do need to get over things. i have done so many times. its not about what you interpret the rules to be, its what blizzard determines the rules to be. i dont see the issue here.
people can vote kick for any reason. that is the rules in the house we play in. ive been kicked for my friend being dead and going back to rez them. not a big deal, just move on to something else. its really not worth the mental or emotional energy to act like a rabid dog about lol
no, youre probably spot on target.
Lesser of evils is how it goes when we’re dealing with trolling sorts of whatever flavor…either trolling by vote kicking for no valid reason…or trolling by pulling for the tank…or even that one in a million healer who has decided he wants to DPS on Disc and not heal at all even when players are dying…which mystifies me to death when Ive seen that one lol
yeah, by and large the list of disgruntleds in this game is pretty small.
Most runs are great…maybe, I dont know…15% or so end up being a circus show here and there. My experience has been its mostly tank antics. Mostly playing VDH for obvious reasons…and mostly not as good at the game as they evidently think they are.
As far as pointless vote kicks, I see that more than other bad behavior though.
Id say 3 in 10 runs I do has a vote kick come up and 99% of the time is NOT for anything that requires a kick…someone butt pulled once, tank is a little too slow, etc.
I dont vote at all when I see that crap.
And if Im healing I’ll sit my rump down if I have to and wait for that idiotic kick box to drop before i cast another heal or even try to catch up.
If they want to kick me for it, Im 100% fine with that. All my characters are where I want them…Im only running for mogs and I can swap to another character if they cause me that 30 minute time out and be back in a run in 74 seconds lol
People are who they are. They project who they are in real life…and their behavior everywhere else, including games they play.
I knew a guy who was a pretty bad person years ago. Basically a thief and quite dishonest sort.
Can you guess his behavior when we played cards or board games? lol.
what we are is projected everywhere we go…everything we do.
To add on to this:
Blizzard has sole discretion in what the rules are, and how they are applied. You agreed to this in the EULA.
If you no longer agree to this, you are welcome to notify blizzard in writing that you rescind your agreement to the EULA, and terminate your account.
This is the problem here. You think those people are “stating facts.” The other side doesn’t. So trying to brand them as unreasonable for not agreeing with you, isn’t really conducive to any kind of civil discussion. An actual back and forth debate requires people to listen, even if both sides think they’re just “stating facts.”
just look at the responses when ive posted the Social Contract they ALL agreed to.
Clearly its showing a tone of CIVIL behavior in game and vote kicking team mates for NO REASON might be ALLOWED by blizzard, but CLEARLY that ISNT how they want us treating other players.
Theyre scapegoating the company with THEIR misuse of the kick system…“WE’RE ALLOWED to kick for NO reason”…as you can see THEM admitting in their own posts here…they blame BLIZZARD for ALLOWING them to do it and refuse to take responsibility for THEIR behavior in actually being the ones kicking their fellow players without a just cause.
Again, thankfully its only a small percentage of WoW players who behave like this.
this is true, however, the other side isnt exactly engaging in good faith nor are they willing to listen. but thats a them problem.
A fact is a fact, whether you agree with it or not.
In an actual debate, the arguments would be over the interpretation of the facts, not between 2 contradictory sets of facts. Once you have the latter, at least 1 side isn’t arguing in good faith anymore.
Debates can be over facts, like debates over whether God exists. What even is this tripe?
If you state that people should “get over” any issues they have with the game as a “fact,” which is something a moral realist with a particular moral compass would say, (I could be like, “Actually, it’s just an opinion,” but I don’t believe in subjective morality anyway), people are gonna disagree with you on what the facts are. This is gaslighting.
honestly, there is no discussion to have with certain persons in here.
Discussion would require both sides actually paying attention and listening to the other.
Ive been debating for over 30 years on a multitude of topics. Ive been in debates with some of the most educated people you’ll ever meet.
I know the difference between a discussion where we’re all involved and listening to other ideas…and a debate where each side is ONLY there to destroy the other sides arguments.
This isnt a discussion here with that group. Its a debate. No one is listening on either side, so theres no point in any discourse between us at all.
one of the things Ive noticed over the years is many cant handle being wrong, so they double down, get nasty and will start doing childish things, which on this forum might present itself in a way such as someone who cant win the debate resorting to listing out your previous posting characters as some sort of juvenile deflection/distraction, thinking THAT actually has ANY meaning to anything, lol.
Honestly, you disagreed with them, so youre on their list now. You might have to start using the ignore feature yourself here soon enough
this is not what the debate is about, and you know it. it is about one specific thing in the game that has started this discussion.
be better.
This is what you said.
If someone just goes around saying “It’s not against the rules. Get over it,” are they really looking for a civil, nuanced, conversation, either?
sounds like they are pointing out facts. sometimes people really do need to get over things.
and you conflated that to “any issues in the game”, which is an overly broad and misleading way of looking at it.
