Leveling via Dungeons in Shadowlands

Cool spoilers, but there’s no mention of necrolords/maldraxxus at the character level the dungeon unlocks in the questline.

Irrelevant, I shouldn’t have to wait to do a dungeon. What if there is a bottle neck and need to kill time? What if I just want to do one with my friends? What if I simply enjoy doing dungeons? Not so open World… of Warcraft. You should stick to LFR :stuck_out_tongue:

For ( expletive sake)

This is their way of saying they want us to “experience the content” the way they want us to.

Funny how that was their reasoning behind Pathfinder, too, and yet they put in a pointless rep grind and then time gating for no explainable reason whatsoever.

What’s to understand? They’re a glorified Aldor-Scryer system. Pick one at random, it won’t matter in the long run.

Jokerd abused layering and had viewrs change him to a zone with mobs alive to keep farming, he cheated and was not world first because of it.

Right, sorry, I’ve been poking into so many threads where people were being more willy-nilly about things that I forgot this was a proper blue post.

I edited a spoiler tag into the post.

If you spam dungeons and essentially skip to level 60 without completing covenants, you’ll be in this awkward position where you can’t do anything because they designed themselves into a corner with all of this borrowed power crap.

You won’t have soulblinds. You won’t have a covenant. You won’t have any proper class growth.

That’s all locked behind their mandatory storyline and progression now.

They have literally no capacity for foresight and everything they do seems to be shooting themselves in the foot.

You play the game their way, or you don’t play. It doesn’t get more clear than this.

Normally, I support the idea of having to unlock content before participating in it. But when it’s something as blatant as because they’ve designed a horrible gameplay mechanic, and not due to common-sense lore reasons, I have a problem.

Makes sense, ty for the update! <3

No problem, glad I could help!

I’m planning on ignoring it all anyways. I’m done with these stupid systems.

To be fair, if that’s the case a lot of other people also cheated as they abused dungeons in a way that Blizzard had to change later. The whole point of the race to world first is to essentially cheat. Not saying it’s right, mind you, just saying that it’s all too common.

It’s going to be interesting to see what you’re able to achieve on a character who doesn’t bow down to their system. Fight the power, man!

Eh, if it doesn’t work then I’ll just level alts and ignore the end-game entirely.

Yeah we don’t know who legit leveled sadly because so many cheaters and Jokerd is labeled as the “world first” event tho he clearly cheated. undeserved title.

I see how you are Blizzard! But alas I shall definitely level via dungeons eventually on alts so get owned!

They literally said to do the main campaign on your first character - which you will have to do just to unlock your Covenant, the Maw, legendaries, etc, and then every other time after that you can just do what you want.

So yes, you either play by these rules or you don’t play at all. At least in Shadowlands. Sorry.
