Classic hardcore should quinch that thirst for you. Classic leveling was nothing more than slow tedium. Getting from point A to point B rp walking was the most difficult thing lol.
We’re halfway through the expansion.
Sheesh.
As much i would like that, if were going to be talking about the core of the issues (Unless OP just wants the Leveling to be harder), i don’t think it goes far enough.
I mean, part of why leveling is boring (IMO), is that 99% of it stands 0 chance of killing you. No fun without the danger.
Gear = Level… Why not just remove the entire leveling experience and replace it with quest that unlock zones.
Fun is subjective.
Even if it’s not, even if there’s the danger, it would still be pretty boring because it would just be more or less the same thing over and over without much variation in what you do (not where you go). And it’s all because of scaling. That’s the core issues here.
And having it fast, wouldn’t exactly solve those core issues. You do get what i’m getting at, right?
Use white gear and stop asking for what is already there. There is plenty of challenge if you take away your gear/heirlooms.
I have leveled far to many times. I wish they would just put a level cap on us and make it so we never gain levels again. The enemies can still get more difficult though.
At the same time, how do you remove all forms of scaling, and have players not feel like they have to change zones without finishing it’s main questline because all the quests/mobs are grey? or that you just hit a roadblock as a quest requires a higher level?
Just make the quests scalable and have greys drop off tiny amount of XP.
That’s kind of a middle where you leave both sides unhappy. There’s still scaling for quests, and you’re still pressured to move on as it’s inefficient to stay and finish.
When you make leveling braindead, and then get upset because people are clueless at endgame. lol >.>
I completely agree. Not only that it would solve the level scaling issue and prevent the need for level squishing every few years. Gear = Level anyway.
There ALWAYS be a group that is going to be unhappy. This is honestly the best of both worlds here, if people want to feel like their powerful, and still finish the story.
It is pointless.
They should have a level 60 squirrel worth eleventy hundred thousand XP. If you kill it, you ding 70 and get enough currency to buy a set of level 70 starting gear. Then all of the quests and such are just for rep and unlocks that you need to do once for all the toons on your account.
Because you know what?
If you level a character in nothing but Time Walking dungeons or whatever, that’s exactly the same experience. A fresh level 70 with junk gear and no rep or anything else. Just a long list of quests to run through to open up the campaign, get your dragon mount, find Valdraken, etc. But now you can start using crafted gear, you can start running dungeons, you can start playing the whole game.
Just skip the whole “getting to max level” part.
I dont play a ton of other MMOs. But in Guild Wars 2. Level has been capped for some time. You get to max level, which can take 2 to 3 weeks. Then from that point on its about acquiring gear. (ignoring the mastery system, but I digress).
But there are other ways to continue to improve your character and learn your class outside of Character Level.
Right, but I think this just makes it worse for one group, without addressing the other group’s concerns in any meaningful way.
And that’s the problem, isn’t it? two groups are just at odds with each other. You can’t satisfy them both at the same time it seems, and no one group here wants to compromise.
My opinion regarding leveling is they need to make mobs hit harder and actually have abilities while not making it take “longer”.
I’m okay with a relatively fast leveling speed but I’d like it to feel somewhat challenging.
I think the best compromise is something like LOTROs new Landscape leveling system where you can select a leveling difficulty.
You actually get more experience for the higher difficulties (keep in mind you won’t be gunning mobs down with two presses of your filler at the level though). The highest difficulties are actually so hard they are intended for groups only. All forms reward unique cosmetics and I think it’s legit a great idea.
You can satisfy both by having optional leveling difficulties
