The only problem i see with no flying, is there are some areas specific to having a flying mount. Some daily quest areas, some for mob/item farms for herbs. Like the elementals in nagrand also.
One of the best parts of tbc is the flying. One of the main reasons I avoid lv 60 classic for the most part.
Once again, the lowest common denominator won’t be satisfied until this is a touchscreen mobile game with random lootboxes that takes 12 hours of in game time to go from one place to the next.
They tried to remove fly mount down the road ? Hard to believe. I haven’t play much retail after cata. But there was not only any move to fix that, but also they allowed flying in Azeroth which was horrible.
TBC without flying mounts would be peak WoW.
Flying mounts reduced wPVP to druids Oomfiring people and then switching to bird before they hit the ground and rogues dive bombing people from orbit.
Without mounts there’d be Vanilla-like wPVP everywhere.
Though they’d have to add point to point FPs in a lot of places or bridges so that players could get to where they needed to go. ie: Elemental Plateau, some dungeons and a raid.
You interact when you’re questing, doing dungeons etc. If your objective is going to Shatt, you’re not interacting with anyone. You want to do away with FPs as well? It’s silly. As for WPvP, go ahead and have no flying on PvP servers.
Going 200 miles per hour into a dungeon portal safely from up above is not an interaction.
Exactly. You are not interacting with anybody, and nobody can interact with you when you are 2000 feet up n above flying safely.
Does a fly path deliver you to a dungeon safely from Shattrath ?? Does a fly path land you n fly you at ant spot you want on demand ?? Does a fly path takes you off any dangerous situation? Are you seriously comparing a fixed point A to B system to free world flying ?!
I have 0 care for PvE servers. But for PvP servers, I’d love flying gone somehow.
I might have come in to your conversation late but that’s kind of a bit much. Flight points were a nice middle ground and still provide regular contact points between known hubs.
With that being said… they could remove flight points and that would actually be pretty cool. Personally, I’m against flying mounts for reasons that I can only assume have already been highlighted… it just takes the World out of World of Warcraft.
I’ve been hearing buzz about a new game in the works called Ashes of Creation and maybe there’s no fast travel in that game. Sounds quite compelling and something worth keeping an eye on
Anyway, to the OPs suggestion, I think TBC without flying would actually be really great, but it would require more than a couple portals to overcome the fact that the world was straight up designed with flying in mind. Sadly, I don’t think you can just take flying out without also having to do an overhaul of the world and its quests. Flying is just something we’ll have to live with in TBC.
