It’s actually a rolling 100-day window. It works out to an average of 200 posts read daily. Sounds like a lot, but in practice it’s extremely easy to maintain.
Not true. I’ve been reported plenty. I’ve had posts removed as a result of those reports. I’ve also had reports removed by mods without a report (mod was replying to a thread I posted in, saw my post and deleted it; it was borderline, and I don’t disagree with the appropriateness of the deletion).
You can see how many likes, posts, etc but it’s a total accumulation rather than a breakdown by level month by month. After a while you accumulate so much that those data points are practically worthless. As for flagging, it is under GM review. And GMs are merciless.
You also get no notification on if you’ve been blocked for that reason. I’ve gotten 24hr suspensions and it never affected my TL3 status, but if I have received a grievance worthy of being blocked I’ve never been notified.
One day you have TL3, the next you don’t, and all you have is inflated numbers and radio silence on Blizzard’s side. And god help you if you don’t track when you lost TL3 because you don’t get notified you went down either. So if you don’t use TL3 features on a daily basis you can go days - or weeks - not realizing it.
It’s a horrible system based on arbitrary numbers.
Hmm. Might be dependent on the severity of the situation or something. Trust level rules should be clearly defined. I understand that punishments can’t be, but trust levels should be.
Couldnt one just note where their posts read number is at when they recieve a vacation and know a rough idea of how many they need to start over? If one were really worried about it.
It depends. Not every flag results in action, and it probably varies based on what is posted. Im not privy to that information or how mods work or the system, so I try not to make broad statements.
Well, Blizz isnt very forthcoming with a lot of things. There is room to critique there, but for some things it makes sense. What will players most often than not end up doing if they get a notification that they lost their trust levels forever or a year or whatever? Make a complaint thread. The forums might be filled to the brim with them at points. It doesnt actually help the forums at all in that regard.
It mostly seems like a way for posters who are here frequently to have some perks to me. Less of an incentive program and more of something players gain just by doing what they already do, but with some safety built in.
My main issue with it is the “any action against your account = banned from TL3 for life”.
I got temp banned in the old forums for calling someone who was being a jerk a “richard”. That’s such a minor thing, yet they see that sort of thing as a sign that someone can’t be trusted to post images and links on the forums? Ever? What? Does my example really scream “this guy is gonna post gore and adult content in embedded gifs”?
I totally get getting knocked down a peg and having to re-earn the status, but a permaban from every earning it is dumb. And yeah, I know old forum actions don’t matter here, just using it as an example.
It’s more than just “forum reputation” though. Each tier literally gives you more access to what should be basic forum features (such as posting links) and the requirements for “moving up” in tiers is arbitrary at best. My account is almost 14 years old and I posted on the forums A LOT back in BC-Cata, but because of some ridiculous new system I’m not considered “trusted” enough to post links? That’s incredibly dumb.
I’m totally fine with not everyone being able to post reaction memes
And no playing a game for 14 years do not say that you have decency or that you can be trusted on a forum, I have seen general chat/barrens chat ingame and I think the forums are a bit better. The farm to get it is easy enough if you care, but at the end of the day you really don’t lose much.
Apparently it’s on their radar to make Trust Level 3 account wide to resolve the transfer/character swap issue. I heard that back in…June I think on the CS forum. We’ll see.
Well… there is this other game I play which uses Discourse and trust levels, but they trust us more so I can post links. And that is so freakingly hilarious considering the game.
The one observation I want to make is that it’s probably easiest to simply click on a thread, which is long and probably irrelevant, and scroll down on it while tabbed out on a flight path.
When I learned that you had to actually keep activity at TL3 to maintain it back when I first earned it, I immediately said to myself “this simply isn’t worth it”. I may go days or even weeks without visiting the forums, so maintaining it was simply untenable. Not sorry that I lost it, only sorry that it has such a ridiculous requirement.
I think honestly once you earn Tl3 status you should keep for at least a time period of 1 year, seems so silly to have to keep up activity and lose it as result of going on breaks. I understand it disappearing after enough time but meh the upkeep is to much.
What disturbs me about this system the most is that there is no direct way I can check my trust levels. I have nothing to grind too nothing to really track my progress (save this weird hack way).
That and all your progress seems to go down the toilet if you make a comment that a “report spammer” doesn’t like.
I sat out for 2 days because I pointed out demon hunters had horns.
