Let's not forget right-click report

I am all for a click to report feature as long as

A. You are not auto banned or muted unless you are spamming chat a butt load

B. You are not punished until the case is reviewed by CS

C. You are punished for abusing the system ( not one report as said above but still enough of a deterrence to keep people from abusing )

This sums it up quite nicely. No, 1 report won’t do anything. A mob of reports (as demonstrated, simply google it) does punish the victim player.

I bet a lot of people don’t want right click report because they plan on AFKing in the cave of AV with an auto jump set up every 10 seconds.

It is rarely abused…documented cases of its abuse are few. Over all the years the system has been in WoW.

And if it gets abused, if the appeals become to high maintenance, it will be removed or changed.

I doubt it will be a problem, except for folks who like to rage/vent/verbally abuse/afk in BG’s etc…

I think removing the auto-squelch from the “Report Spam” option and implementing a “Report Illegal Services” one with the auto-squelch is a good idea, as it would have a clear function with little room for subjective interpretation. Blizzard could make a clear statement that abuse of the “Report Illegal Services” option will result in account punishments.

From what I understand, the primary reason for the right-click report and auto-squelch from the “Report Spam” button being put in, is to allow the playerbase to quickly and efficiently remove Gold Seller Spam from the public chat channels. Making an option that is clearly to only be used to combat that and other things like Leveling services is in my opinion, a good idea.

Compromise.

Have we so quickly forgotten how many gold sellers spam public channels?

What is the hivemind’s solution to squelching goldspam?

Why, with right-click report, Cleavis!

Gold spam is going to be no worse than it is in modern wow.

You better stop!

Let China come, I will face this foe.

Classic wow won’t have game tokens.

Also, doesn’t modern wow have right click reporting?

I think it would be sufficient to include automatic /ignore of the person that you’re reporting so you don’t have to see whatever they’re typing.

Even with a clear message about abuse of the system, they’re still going to treat it exactly like they do now.

Same. Only those who would abuse chat need fear the RCR.

Right click report / auto squelch has no place in classic for the same reason we didn’t get loot trading. It causes bigger problems than it solves, by giving unscrupulous players / guilds a means of disrupting the gameplay of anyone they are competing with, or simply just dislike.

We will fight them in hillsbrad… we will fight them over the rotus… we will fight them in the auction house. We will face this foe together.

This needs to be phrased as Right Click Mute.

Could someone inform me as to what the problem statement is here?

OP hasn’t articulated one.

Classic will have the ability to right click on somebody and report them. If enough people report you, the system automatically squelches you.

Some people don’t like the idea that the act of being reported can punish you before a GM has verified you did anything wrong.

Other people say that Blizzard will take action against anybody abusing the system.

TY Sab.

I still don’t understand the ‘against’ argument here. People would rather a single GM be responsible for a temporary squelching, than a crowdsourced group of individuals? AND having a lag on squelches is worth this tradeoff?

This sounds like lose-lose. Literally asking for more goldspam. :woman_shrugging:

Many of those that claim that Blizzard will take action against anyone abusing the right click report system also claim that Blizzard will not have the staff to address tickets.

If they would be unable to address tickets. Why would they magically be able to take action against this who abuse the system?
