Let's not forget right-click report

I do, I don’t think you do. Again with more character attacks.

As said previously, right click reporting isn’t terrible. The only thing that is terrible about it is the auto-ban/mute that comes along with being repeatably reported for the same thing. With a game like Classic that has an initiative for community instilled, it wouldn’t be unusual to see a person report bombed and then muted for 30 days.

Also, GMs should have no power in solving world PvP related issues. Players can square that away I’m sure…

So getting swatted and having someone send the cops to your place and getting thrown face down on the floor and getting searched isnt punishment either right? Because your just being detained until they can find out what’s going on? Your logic is amazing.

This is it. Right here. The toxic players are the ones who will abuse the system- this is why this is a concern. If the purpose of the tool was to suppress and expedite action against the ‘bad guys’ than why can the ‘bad guys’ use it against innocent players?

Pretty much, fam. Remember though- I’m just making up a false narrative because I’m bored and this is fun? Hahaha!!!

Cool. Thanks for the info on when the feature was added.

Personally, I think this kind of feature very much SHOULD be in Classic.

Right-click report isn’t a core part of Classic’s gameplay. Rather it’s an anti-exploit security feature that makes it easier to report abuse.

I want Classic to feel like Vanilla. But there are certain parts of Vanilla I’d rather do without. Like the gold-seller and leveling-service spam that polluted all the public chat channels.

The right-click report feature was one of the key tools Blizzard added to help combat this abuse.

There is no auto-ban, there is an auto-squelch that does not consist of a doubling silence punishment. The auto-squelch is temporary until a GM reviews the reports and makes a decision to remove the squelch or impose a silence.

I disagree, I think very few people will be willing to sacrifice their own accounts and the accounts of their friends in an attempt to abuse the right-click report system. The right-click report system and auto-squelch have been used in-game since 2007 and there is no evidence of widespread abuse.

That’s not how it works. If they get squelched, it lasts as long til when a GM gets to reviewing it. Generally squelches last a couple of hours if it appealed. if he deserved the squelch, then a GM applies silence punishment. If it his first offense, it’s 24 hours, to get 30 days, you are a repeat offender.

Now if it was found to be the result of abuse. The GMs will track down the abusers and slap a 3 day suspension on them. They have access to EVERYTHING.

Guilty before proven innocent.

Get real.

Blizzard have logs of what was said. They HAVE the proof in the persons own words

Every. single. word. you. say is logged.

Right-click reporting should be permitted as long as it does not lead to being banned, disconnected, or suspended without further investigation from an actual G.M.

Blizzard doesnt have the time or manpower to babysit every single report and manually check each one as they come in.

I dont care who you are, if you think for one moment that anyone should be free to run their mouth and scream obscenities in chat unchecked…get help.

The squelch is akin to a player initiated “SHUT UP”.

Irony Bomb just went off.

Light’s Hope, a server that consists of thousands of players, consists of G.M.s that respond to tickets within an hour. Thus, it should not be an issue if G.M.s are assigned to Classic Servers, which may consist of a 3K-5K server cap.

(snip), an illegal pirate server that steals Blizzards IP and property is not a good argument to make.

The point he was making stands solid.
PS, IP and property is redundant and redundant.

PS, IP and property is redundant and redundant.

Illegal is illegal…and using the limited resources of an illegal pirate server in comparison to the real thing is laughable.

Tell us why Blizzard could not use the same target report number that currently triggers the squelch to trigger a flag for the account to be manually reviewed.

After all, if they have the manpower to manually review squelches, they should have the manpower to review flags triggered by the same number of reports, right?

They could even add an escalating priority system so that accounts with more tickets would be reviewed sooner, with a significantly higher number of tickets triggering a squelch.

That’s not what we’re being told by Blizzard itself. They claim to handle every report by their staff.

Report Harassment in World of Warcraft
Updated: 2 months ago
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/99842
Our in-game policies are designed to foster fun, fair, and safe game environments. If you see another player violate these policies, please immediately report the incident to a Game Master for investigation.
To report a player in World of Warcraft:

  1. Right-click the player’s name in chat.
  2. Click Report Player For:
  3. Select the most appropriate option.
  4. Click Accept .
Note: To report a player in a battleground who is not participating, click on the player’s name and select Report Player Away .

The problem with RCR is that once you are reported by enough players (whether justified or not) the system will automatically administer punishment to you. This punishment, a silence, has been observed to take place within a few minutes of the reports. This is prior to a Game Master having any involvement with the issue. Once your hit with this automatic silence you receive several email notifications of your actions against your account.

Uh, that’s how it works now. If you ask for an appeal, it bumps it up a bit.
