Let's not forget right-click report

They can’t just hire new GMs and assign them specifically to Classic. That’s not how the business works these days.

Yeah, I know they use same GM’s for many different games, but they could hire more of those multi purpose GM’s, if they feel lacking in that department.

That is dangerously close to the justification that is often used for tokens.
Goldsellers abuse the system, so just let Blizzard handle the goldselling.

But yes, the hope is that abusers will get the snot kicked out of their accounts, and that guilds that do such and condone their members doing such feel the pain guild-wide.

Believe me, in my world there would be no such system, I am against the implementation of the system in the first place because I think people can act like adults and remove undesirables themselves without having to make tickets or report them.

HAVING SAID THAT, it looks like we ARE getting this system whether we like it or not. With this system I do not believe that the abuse will be as prevalent as we fear, and if it is, blizzard will do something quickly to rectify it.

What do you mean by Trolls? You can just /ignore. If they spam you, or if a gold farmer is spamming, you report them for spamming. That’s simple.

I do not want to live in a world of trolls, where they can right click me in high volume and have me squelched.

I disagree- World chat may be toxic and full of idiots, but there is plenty of opportunity for others to right-click squelch you for not inviting them to kill a quest-boss. That’s just one example.

Again, any instance where it can be potentially abused is not okay.

In no way am I saying I’m afraid of this tool begin used against me personally- I’m not okay with the logistics of which it came to be. Guilty before proven innocent isn’t a solid form of moderation.

That was never a question. The number of GMs isn’t the topic.

There IS NO BAN ELEMENT.

In my opinion the only time an Auto Mute should kick in is if you are literally spamming posts into the chat at high frequency. lets say 5 posts into general chat in less than 5 seconds. That should be automatically mute the player for X time. I DO NOT BELIEVE that a player should be auto silenced by other players right clicking their name and reporting. THE ONLY TIME a player should be impacted by the right click reports is AFTER a HUMAN has examined the reports and verified that they were warranted.

That same argument can be applied to the old system. It can, and was abused.

I’m 110% behind this. This is my premise.

Elaborate, please?

Attempting to create a system that is immune to abuse is literally impossible, they would have created a system like that already if it were possible. Whether its the man power required to sift through all of the tickets, or the amount of money they save by having the players do the majority of the policing, this looks to be the system we are going to get.

It has been removed already or was it ever a thing? I saw some videos about it some time ago where people got kicked out by it.

In the old system, you could spam chat. You could make it harder for people to create groups, sell items, or whatnot by constantly filling chat enough to stop people from seeing what you write (not everyone will /ignore trolls).
Some trolls would even do things explicitly worthy of bans in chat but they’d plan them for periods of time where they knew they wouldn’t even be playing if they were to be banned. This allowed them to circumvent the ban by just scheduling it for their already planned downtime.

You put a lot of emphasis on “just ignore them” when not everyone will do that. That doesn’t solve the problem if they are preventing people from seeing what you post.

As far as I’m aware, it was never a thing. The only time it’s ever been “shown” to happen was during live streams where a streamer gets a huge influx of people to report them (which may cause a ban if an excess number is reached). But they never showed proof they were banned for that, in fact one of them was shown to be banned for abusing the system, not for being reported.

Nor does it do anything about chat filling up with people responding to the one abusing the public channel.

Exactly, trolls tend to post things that will elicit a response. What are you going to do? Ignore a bunch of innocent people?

I really appreciate your detail and your passion. I can easily see your real and valid point. I must still argue that a bot versus GM intervention is not ideal. I still firmly argue that right-click squelching and the punishments players would experience due to the new system is not okay, and does not compare to players spamming a trade chat channel.

Oof. Imagine paying $15 a month when you don’t need a sub to post on this forum.

I cancelled my sub and then resubbed to play a Project 60- I couldn’t comment when I was unsubbed.

You should be able to now. On my word, I’m not subbed and can blabber just fine.

Thank you. I will give it a try!

And that’s where we differ. I think the idea that innocent players are going to be so badly hurt by the system is greatly exaggerated, especially since the feature was available in TBC.
