well what im certain of (even tho its basically just speculation) is that a non restricted HC server will die after SOM2. why would anybody who is specifically interested in HC play ona server where alts are funneled just as on every other server?
So they’ll stay on BSB with their 60’s and just level more 60’s?
That’s awesome! I love that for Era!
Is it really niche if it’s booming?
I agree, I think we will see that a SSF server will be longstanding stable, and an “unlimited” server die. But I acknowledge that no one knows!
I would love to see the full potential of both versions!
A lot of people play for the journey, which is a big part of Vanilla.
Bloodsail is a server I’ve played since it launched because, RP.
I have no idea what other players would do. You’ll have to inquire elsewhere on that.
The only reason hardcore is hype right now is because a ton of large streamers are currently playing it.
And many of those streamers such as summit, sodapoppin, mitch jones ect. Are clearly already burned out on playing hardcore and are only continuing to play it because its whats “in” right now and they have ongoing rivalries with other streamers.
As soon as most streamers stop playing hardcore on stream the overall community will start to dwindle into only the most dedicated fans of the mode
That’s a wild assumption. I really don’t think so. I speak for myself and others that are playing because we love it!
Edit/update:
Also why is the streamer thing a bad thing? Fun to watch fun to play as Kargoz used to say
lets say thats the case then that would be no matter the ruleset.
but SSF has more longevity because of the server dynamic of always having to start “fresh” with a new char. so imo it would be beneficial to have such a server. or would u disagree?
Guarantee that an SSF server will look exactly the same. No way to restrict group to just dungeons so people will be able to game the system either way and people (not all but some) will always game whatever system they play with.
SSF can be played on ANY server, because it doesn’t allow you to interact with other players anyway.
So i would argue that a server with just the simple rule of death = permanent has more longevity and longterm appeal because it is more inclusive of different playstyles than a strictly SSF server
Bold!
Really think so?
Update/edit:
For a lot of players, it would be adream come true to have the whole server playing by the same SSF rules. Which is not the same as using those rules on a regular server. It might not make sense to you, but it does to a lot of people!
100%. I would also guarantee that there are lvl 60 and even lower level HC players now on BSB buying gold. You can’t prevent people from doing this regardless of what you do.
Can elaborate on what you mean by this reply and how this fits in with separate server being a bad thing?
well that one would be one of the easier to prevent. simply put a lockout in place.
yes but people who care about HC dont want to start fresh ona server that is twinked out.
BSB only functions the way it does because almost everybody there plays with the addon. otherwise the mixing would cause problems. the environment matters.
u can prevent trading below 60. with that there is no possibility to receive gold.
You can prevent trading and multiple dungeons runs, you can’t prevent grouping. Group with a lowbie go farm and let them loot whatever drops… boom you just boosted or got a lowbie gold/items/enchants they wouldn’t otherwise have.
You won’t be able to stop people cheesing.
I don’t see this to be a problem, and can you elaborate on how this fits in with separate servers being a bad thing?
From the videos I’ve watched where streamers die the first thing they say is “I can appeal that”. Once official HC realms they won’t be sticking around when they can’t cheese it anymore. This will make SSF obsolete.
Are you asking for a second realm without death = delete and SSF? If so, I think that’s your real reasoning for wanting a second SSF realm.
No one asked for that. When you die you delete.
I argue that since permadeath is booming and you see a balanced portion of players wanted the “two versions”, it is wise to release them both, separate
I can’t see what post you’re replying to but it pertains to Cibs argument about boosters/twinks invading a non SSF server.
An SSF server will have the same things.
Again no reason to split an already small player base. If you don’t have 7-10k pop playing HC (which we don’t) you don’t need 2 servers. Why split 3k into two uneven groups and dilute/neuter two servers at launch…
Y’know now that I type this out that’s exactly what blizzard would do. Shoot themselves in the foot.
well not everything i agree.
does that mean nothing should be restricted?
and ye its still way more time consuming to babysit a new char then to twink em out and it wouldnt reach the same degree of abuse.
many of the big HC streamers actually despise appealing. who ur talkin baout here?
