They will change it. Even the former WoW anniversary items came back with the 20th one, because they realize how much damage FOMO does to World of Warcraft.
I’m not worried about if the original mage tower weapons ever will come back but only about the when.
Just look at PvP. Many folks over there have offered compromises as extreme as earning Gladiator in order to purchase old elite sets and folks who barely eclipsed 2K and were hardstuck 1,500 for the rest of their careers still gate-kept that.
Some people center their entire identities around having something that’s no longer obtainable that most people don’t care about.
For anyone who takes pride in owning a digital reward and gate-keeps the acquisition from others: You’re pathetic and no one gives a damn.
When this game inevitably shuts down, will you put that on your resume?
I’m guessing Holy Priest wasn’t one of them then, because some spec’s challenges weren’t able to be face rolled even during the final patch with top gear, and that one was notorious for it. Holy priest just lacked so many of the utility tools necessary for it, and I’d be highly skeptical if you said you cleared that with no guides, and random talents and gear.
Bring back the skins sure, but as recolors. They already did it with the bear druid mage tower skin. That and people that have the OG appearances already would appreciate a reward as well.
I see some people took my suggestion of putting the appearances in the cash shop as being serious… What a time to be alive @_@
The mage tower appearances were awarded to recognize players who had distinguished themselves. Suggesting said recognition should be purchasable is on par with suggesting you should be able to buy the Medal of Honor (attempting to do so is a crime btw).
I mean, they already sort of brought it back so I wouldn’t hold out for this. You’ll just have to be satisfied with all the other tasty mogs from the Broken Isles
Hmm, well, the way you worded your statement made it sound like you are more experienced in the original Mage Tower than you actually are. Disc was one of the easiest challenges (and a dps challenge on a character that self-healed as it did damage along with having actual healing and shields). Not only that, it was the only healer that didn’t do the actual healer challenge. As long as you saved Psychic Scream for the right spot, you pretty much had a win. I aced that one too pretty early on. It was one of the easiest ones.
Yet you imply (or at least agree with) the statement that after the first patch the entire mage tower was a cake walk. For some specs it was, especially if you won the legendary lottery early on. For some specs (cough holy priest cough) gear only helped so much as it was very utility heavy on a class with extremely limited utility.
So yeah. Recolors, not the original colors if they ever bring those rewards back. Like I said before, those of us who already have those appearances would also like to be rewarded.
That’s fine but honestly I’d rather they did something entirely new. Aside from Druids wanting the swole bear form most of the mage tower appearances aren’t even that hot. If they are going to put effort into some transmog sets lets do something brand new.
Too bad for those specs then, doesn’t matter to me
I see a lot of sentiment for a lot of people who also felt it was very trivial by the end of legion, and that was my experience as well. Sorry for the 2 specs who it was a mythic raid challenge for.
I have the Druid and Demon Hunter artifact appearances from the Mage Tower. I wish I did more on other classes that I now play but didn’t back then. I don’t care if Feral Druids get sparkle kitty, or if bears get werebear forms as long as I can get the Protection Paladin and Protection Warrior ones. Blizzard should have never removed all these appearances from the game. The Mage Tower artifact weapons are some of the nicest weapons in the game’s entire history. There has only been a few cool weapons added since that rival them imho.
What does prestige even mean in WoW anymore though. If it can still be framed in any way on live, even through TW, it really isn’t considered a Prestige item anymore. Given enough time and anyone can get anything from that pool of “prestige items”
So, in reality, the only prestige left in WoW are content specific stuff, like AoTC or Gladiator or 2500 rating. Because once the season/Expac are over those are gone. You had to be there. Which in reality is the only prestige left in the game. Anything that proves you “were there” is the prestige, because Blizz has made it so easy to acquire some of the old prestige items, think Warglaive of Azzinoth or Tusks of Mannoroth. These used to be prestige items, but aren’t really considered that anymore.
No, you shouldn’t. It’s bad game design and fosters resentment and constant nagging, rightfully so.
What should the people say, who missed on on the heritage armor extension for the Blood Elf armor, so they can be the ideal Warlock? Such things ruins the immersion for many people.
Nah, because we’ve missed time in game. And that was a decision we made. For whatever reason, we CHOSE not to play during that time period. Not being able to afford sub counts as choosing as 15 a month isn’t really that bad.
So, you want to be rewarded for choosing to not play during that time period and get all the cool stuff that those who stuck around earned? Nah, that’s busted. I didn’t even like that the Tusks were available in MoP Remix because I knew people back then who grinded over a year to get those. Just for literally everyone to get it during remix. There needs to be prestige in any game, and it exists in every game. Are you gonna sit here and be mad you can’t get the Speedrun record on FF7 just because all the top runners can get close? Nah, that’s prestige. Something you have that proves you put in the work and effort. Gave up time to earn it.
If prestige stuff like that is going to become available again then it should require MORE work now to get than it did at the time it was live. You can’t scale the entire game to players levels, so eventually just by hitting 80 you out scale all of the content those prestige items/titles come from and it would be a cakewalk to get. Imagine if theymade “Lore Master” easier to get you know how many people would get mad. Because they put in countless hours to earn something that’s being given away now. And that creates a toxic environment that leads to veterans leaving because their hard work isn’t worth anything anymore.
People, who are starting right now to play made never a decision. This is the fallacy argument every time it comes up: “It’s your fault for being born too late to get the items”.
Gaslighting attempt.
So, as far as I understand it from my brothers, you’re basically over 40 years old and defending FOMO for what reasons exactly?
I do not think someone would complain about having access to it but rather being gatekeeped by a system nobody asked for.
People come and go all the time. It needs to be open for new blood, who want to get things they desire to achieve in the game and not for some old men, who want to control a collective narrative they actually don’t own.
