Where the numbers at tho? I’d like to see your data. You seem to have some real info nobody else does.
They quit posting subs because it looked terrible for product so they went with MAUs and even those have been dropping.
Yeah so you don’t have any real evidence to support your claim, gotcha.
Of course, I do look at all the small servers that are empty wanting to be merged!
Raiding used to be a social activity. Now, it’s a competitive activity. That’s gonna alienate some people because they can’t compete, but I’d wager it alienates more that simply don’t want to compete.
Look at all the “complaint” threads about m+. The number 1 thing people don’t like about it is that it’s competitive. They don’t like IO, they don’t like the timer, they don’t like the meta, etc.
Competition has its place, personally I think m+ and pvp have it covered pretty well. They should look more at making raiding more social.
To be fair, those have some weight, if you’re trying to be attached to the esport scene. However, the bulk of us don’t care about that. We just want to log in, slay some dragons, get epic loot and repeat till geared. Then we do the same with alts. Blizzard has forgotten that a MMO is an adventure, not a time sink, competitive grab bag of metrics.

Don’t threaten me with a good time hah
That’s the point. Even if you don’t care about it, it affects you. A mid tier raider who clicks his cooldowns used to be able to get the best gear in the game. Now they’re struggling with heroic end bosses.
If they’re lucky enough to be in a guild. Every guild I’ve talked to about joining has wanted logs, they all want to recruit up. Nobody is taking a chance on someone who hasn’t been there.
This is all under a micro scope in m+, because reach person is 20% of your team instead of 5%.
And don’t even get me started on pvp.
There’s a years long path to overcome these in the game, “git gud”, as it’s colloquially called. Join a feeder guild, get logs on 1-2 bosses, then jump, then jump again. It takes about an expansion or two of effort. Then you gotta maintain that level until you find a guild that CAN get CE. Then you hope, hop, hope, hop, until it pays off. Now you’re at the top. But that takes a LOT of drive. You can climb that mountain solo in m+ because it’s more accessible.
What’s more important, though, is that you used to be able to climb that mountain in raids, too. 10 man endgame needs to come back, and mythic raiders need to be nerfed or cosmetic only. Slightly controversia, but i think Heroic should drop the highest item level. I’m not above putting some sauce on a mythic drop or two, but you should be able to get to 98-99% from heroic raiding.
I hear you thinking it, but it WOULD increase raid participation.
i get mad at one and orc and even wiggles, m plus is our game, the end
wrong kaerch
also i will kill and eat furries all day
I don’t want your fun taken away at the expense of raiding. I just want raiding to be as profitable as mythic plus.
wiggles toes
me. but your right it does need its own overhaul.
This. Let all avenues allow for reasonable gearing. Why have limits on raiding per week and gear lock out? If people want to run a raid a few times in a row, good on them?
It probably had to originally do with gate keeping gear progression so people couldn’t gear up fast, but these are new times.
Let’s let gear be less of a hassle
i just want wiggling toes
Yeah im really digging the fact i can que for fated lfr raids been fun lately :).
It was fine before you had to grind M+ to be relevant for a raid that’s tuned around it. All the signs point to this shift in raid tuning happening in Nighthold, which was the tier following the first ever M+ season. And participation followed suit in the tiers after that, because a lot of people who just want to raid couldn’t be bothered with the infinite grind called M+ anymore.
I would love to raid and completely ignore M+, but sadly that’s not a reality in the slightest.
Nice to see more people finally getting on board with this.
I posted this back in February. That pre-dates Sepulcher, when things got far, far worse.
Here’s how you fix the Great Vault for progression raiding, btw.
Posted that in September of last year, btw.
To people saying “why don’t you ask for improvements to raid instead of nerfs to M+?”
We have been. For YEARS.
Let’s face it, the game is basically all about character progression, which means gear.
And raiding is FAR too stingy with the drops.
Say you wanted to gear up through raiding alone, you are a fresh level 60 so you go into LFR.
Even in LFR, gear drops are basically non-existent, you could spend months in there trying to gear up to go to the next level.
How are you supposed to stay motivated to keep raiding when you spend half the tier just trying to gear up through raiding?
Gearing on the lower end should be much faster if you want people to move up through raiding.
People shouldn’t HAVE to do M+ to get the gear they need to raid, it’s asking WAY too much time of the player.
