Nah, it’s still slow and clunky as hell. 2.5s GCD is an eternity. More buttons != More difficult. It just becomes a monotonous drag. This idiot in the video is just being paid to make it seem challenging.
If WoW wanted to, they could make a class that you press 1234567890c1c2c3c4c5c6c7c8c9c0 over and over again. It doesn’t make it hard, it makes is boringly contrived.
Look at one of the most played online RPG games of all time: League of Legends. Looks real simple right? Just a handful buttons. Go play it, I bet you place in bronze. It’s a perfect example of less is more.
As for tanking in FF14, no, dps will just pull trash anyways. People don’t talk much in parties because the chat system is garbage. They are just as antisocial as they are in LFG/D/R in WoW.
Gonna press X to doubt. I’ve been playing FFXIV since ARR and since 2014 I have yet to see or experience someone getting upset over a Summoner’s pet. This sounds as far-fetched as someone in WoW throwing a tantrum because they inspected your gear with a calculator and found out you have more Mastery than Crit.
But to keep it on topic, I’ll agree FF’s community receives tanks a little better (but I was in a group just yesterday where our AST was pestering the tank to do bigger pulls the whole time until I told him to shut up), but I think the actual difference-maker is the way the game treats tanks. The inherent tanking mechanics are just more fun to me in FF than in WoW. There are some neat tank-based raid mechanics where you get to feel like you’re actually protecting your whole team. For example, some encounters have a mechanic where the raid needs to stack in a line, but the person at the front of the line takes HUGE damage, so as the tank you get to feel like you’re actually “taking one for the team” to protect them, which I find pretty cool.
people wanting to burn through castrum doesnt count (its 50 mins, and 40 of that now forced cutscenes)
your average 4man, people dont tend to gripe if you stop and watch the movies.
Yeah.
Castrum really isn’t much of a dungeon experience and more of a story-experience, or movie experience as some in the FFXIV would call it.
I do feel bad, however, when a sprout somewhere dies and just gets lost until he/she can finally teleport to a boss (They still get to see all the cutscenes, luckily)
There is PvP. It just isn’t spectacular. The developers have mentioned they have some ideas for it though, so hopefully it changes in Endwalker - remains to be seen.
just wait when they ask you to aggro the whole dungeon and sprint to the end while the group aoe everything. and if you don’t do that and you are “slow” you get kicked
It’s not a question of what’s better, it’s people like you spreading misinformation because you think people are going to leave your precious game in droves if you don’t defend it. You just look like an idiot at the end of the day.
I leveled two tanks in WoW (DH and a Bear). While I can see the examples you all bring up as possible, they are certainly rare. 99% of all M+ groups I join up with to tank dungeons are very supportive and helpful if you communicate where you are at in your experience. If people ask you to pull more and more and you’re not OK with that, it’s totally fine to pull however much/little you want as tank and ignore the complainer. It’s not likely they will kick you because then they’ll either have to abandon the run or wait sometimes a long time for your replacement.
Yet people will complain all day about tank shortages. I personally would like to try tanking again, but with how little patience people have and the you must skip as much as possible BS, you all can just suck up those DPS queue times.
The gogogogo people are not going to survive, they will find that one quest cinematic leads to another, and after hour upon hour of not getting to wherever it is that they are gogogogoing to, they will find they are not getting there. Then they will leave for another MMO, where they can gogogogogogo in peace, without having to go through hundreds of hours of storylines
Sometimes I feel like I am the only person who have some kind of self-esteem.
I do take valid criticisms, but any passive aggressive or delusional comment and I am more than willing to slap people back into place.
They’ll get slapped.
The dps can’t survive tanking, not even trash mobs.
The healers will end up stressing themselves out because they can’t handle the dps-healing mix that FFXIV requires - all manners of independent thought has been sucked out of them in WoW.
The tanks will learn that they die without playing properly, paying attention to their mitigation… die or stress out the healers.
