It’s almost like we’ve been dragged on by this company for ages and despite the playerbase as a whole having the reaction speed of a snail, people are finally fed up with the stupid games Blizzard plays.

Did not see the new race yet. I personally will not see it till the day it gets released.

I have no issue with them using the demon pet rig as long as they give the Dracthyr their own personality through the animations. As long as they do, I don’t see it being a downside to reuse stuff that’s already what they were aiming for. Don’t fix what ain’t broke.
The proportions also come down to everyone’s own preference. I personally am absolutely bored of the trend where males the ultra-massive humanoids and females are really tiny. While I probably won’t touch Dracthyr regardless what they choose to do, I think how they are works fine, and I’d be more likely to play them as they currently are versus them being extremely buff.
Although I do agree that their blood elf/human visage forms look really bad, and hope they remake them (doubtful).

it sucks that so many allied races are much cooler than dracthur. Missed opportunity with a dragon race, to be sure.

Maybe, maybe not, might want to wait to you can actually use the product before judging it. Personally I care less if they used old templates to make a new race and class. Same crap was spewed about the allied races when they were announced, yet so many grinded and grinded to unlock them.
I have never had an interest to play as goblins, but I now play vulpera despite them being rehashes. They have enough changes to stand out as their own race, and I think it can be the same case for Dracthyr… then again you can’t play as a demon pet at all so I don’t see it being a problem.

Male/female is what they are meaning here if I understand correctly. And in this case simply having a beefier option as a type even if neither is gendered would be nice for some people.

different strokes for different folks. i love dracthyr i think they are cool. you dont and thats fine. just because you dont like it doesnt mean its lazy just means it doesnt appeal to you. welcome to reality not everything is about you.

i’m not too worried about it sharing the model with the incubus and they are getting more body options, which is more than most races can claim. But i do agree they scream of cut corners and it worries me.
Because as it stands now there is no new race coming in dragonflight. we are getting a new class with a (very fancy) druid form and they are trying to convince us we are getting both. The Evoker class and Dracthyr “race” are so horribly intertwined right now that claiming we are getting a new race from them would be like claiming that cats and bears are a playable race because of druid shapeshifting.
While i am fine with the restrictions of the Evoker class, the fact that this supposed Dracthyr race must follow all the restrictions of a hero class is ridiculous.
What other race can only be one class? What other race can’t tank? What other race can’t mog their gear? what other race only allows you to role one of that race per realm? what other race can only wear one type of armor?
Even in the case of demon hunters, (which is a class not a race) rolling a DH on your main realm would not prevent you for rolling say, a nelf druid of belf paladin.
Most of my issues with this would be resolved if they opened up even just one more class that the race could be, but as it stands now we likely wont be able to roll anything other than Evokers if we want to play a Dracthyr for a minimum of the next 3 years. (i.e the start of whatever xpack comes after dragonflight) think about that. we wont be able to play the new race like they are a proper race until a year after the xpack that hyped them up is totally over.

I had mixed feelings regarding the new race/class.
On one hand I was disappointed that we didn’t get something cool like ogres or murlocs and necromancers or bards.
On the other hand I was happy because it made it easier to pass, draw a a finish line and just focus on already in game stuff that I have been putting off over the years.

I think it’s a pretty clear line though between a few extra blobs of mesh on a frame, and proper re-use of a skeleton for mobs.

I guess you missed the part where they said they are opening up more classes to this race later in expansion. The Dragon Isle has been secluded for 10,000 years (not exact). So of course they would not have the knowledge of other “classes”. I mean it is lore accurate that they would not assimilate right away it will take time and it WILL open up to more classes.
