Layering sucks even if its just P1 (Video Proof)

Sharding won’t be in classic… Man are you retarded?

A system that tries to regulate player populations for organizational tech purposes is not fun for me.
I’m not going to have fun in a queue be it a layered one or not. Nor will it be enjoyable when i finally made it past the tech obstructions like it, and want to play and immerse myself into the game, only to be met with another a queue like system that now instead in game distributes players within the world by splitting it up to balance out populations. It awkwardly tries to hide itself but it will show it’s face plenty of times throughout the journey, and it’s not gonna be pretty.
And that’s in the one world i was supposed to get immersed into, as is the premise of “World” of Warcraft. And that not for a couple days or so. But weeks, or months.

At some point i just wanna play the game. Having to wait a little bit at the best MMORPG launch is a given and to be expected, and therefore acceptable.
Shortly after launch, no visible regulations inside it, our outside it should happen so i can have the best experience as a player.

No, I rebutted your lie and just lost patience after the rebuttal.

Probably the same way you disable load balancers distributing requests to multiple web servers and databases. This stuff is pretty common nowadays for websites to handle millions of visitors per day…

Being layered is the exact opposite of being in a queue.

Hey dude, this thread has nothing to do with sharding. We’re talking about layering.

Sharding was implemented in Wrath.

layering is sharding. The entire continent is sharded.

You’re the one wanting queue times.

lol oh yeah Blizzard sent me the entire design doc in PDF for their infrastructure but I can’t disclose that information, sorry bud

They might do that on a tuesday, when all realms go down for scheduled maintenance. Since I’d imagine you’d need to reboot the entire stack to make a big change like that.

Kurddran…they said layering is dynamic, just like sharding so no need to reboot.

Just turn that dial from 5 to 1.

I said, whether I’m in a queue that happens on a realm without layering, or it’s a queue that i’m in on a realm that is layered, either way it’s not fun.

Point being, technical solutions like this have to stay outside of the game, behind the scenes. Outside of it they already are an (albeit necessary) obstacle to make sure you can fully enjoy the game.
Put them inside and dress them up nicely to attempt to fit the scenery, hoping no one will notice, and you’re at a point where you vastly underestimate your playerbase as they’ll see it for what it is faster than you can imagine.

I’m pretty sure, since Kalimdor and eastern kingdoms are individual instances, they would divide the server load into about half since each instance could be processed by a single dedicated machine.

But I have no idea just how many people are allowed into a single instance running with just one layer. I’d imagine it’s about 15k.

But after reading the interviews, it sounds like Blizzard is going for an experience that’s as close to classic as possible.

Oh people will notice I’d wager, and a lot won’t care. Because they’ll actually be able to play the game.

They’ll care the moment they have it interfere with their game experience, which is inevitable as it has it’s side effects reach into every aspect of it.
Especially those will care who wanted the vanilla/classic game feeling when they come back, because they’ll see the game work differently than they remembered, as in, it won’t be the same game. It’s not what they expected and asked for.

But they seem to want the majority of players to quit during phase 1 so they can “remove layering”.

What will be left…retail players that have something to do in-between patches ?

Not naive, just not concerned over a video game. My life doesnt revolve around classic or BFA. Seems yours does though.

I also know that the layering is only for a short period of time to get passed the initial over flow of people after launch. Unlike you.

And here is some wisdom to help you avoid your obvious triggering issues.

WAIT FOR IT! WAIT FOR IT!!

Dont like the way blizzavision offers classic, DONT PLAY IT!!! Problem solved and you avoid triggering.

MIC DROP!

What brings you to the forums then? Seeing as there is basically only discussions going on about it. Most players who come here are the more invested kind anyway. The actual casual crowd just plays the game and doesn’t get involved with any of this.

Sounds more like a broken version of layering and not the layering they were telling us about.
If you see someone, you are on their layer and grouping should not move you to another layer.

Obvious bug is obvious. This is why we Beta test.
