Layering sucks even if its just P1 (Video Proof)

Sharding is the inverse of layering.

With sharding you take people out of 3 low pop realms and move them into a single virtual realm.

Layering is where an overpopulated Kalimdor is split into two pieces where each half is processed by a dedicated machine.

They are very very different, layering is meant to emulate the experience of how classic was.

They let it happen, knowing the moment the storm is over people will forget about the launch and will be happily flocking around in the game they’ve wanted for years on end because that’s exactly what they’ve received.
And that’s the game the playerbase will ultimately judge for it’s quality, which has proven itself to be so high it ended up as the best MMORPG ever, even with a disastrous launch that can’t in any way be replicated 15 years later on new Blizzard tech.

What do you think Sharding is in games that have it?

… I wasn’t. If you can’t connect to the server, you can’t actually play the game. WoW doesn’t have an offline mode.

Then say hello to layering. Otherwise enjoy the constant queue times.

They aren’t doing this to save money. They have just as much hardware as there would be for extra segregated servers. This just makes sure you don’t get stuck on a dead realm in 6 months.

These issues are being reported.

It’s actually Blizzards efforts to avoid cry babies like you from flooding this forum that demand magical servers that never get too overpopulated with 6 hour queues.

Hi goalposts, bye goalposts.

I was stating the fact that you can’t play the game if you can’t log in, yes lots of people could, but not everyone.

Because it was the new hot thing. They later introduced sharding and we no longer had to deal with queue times.

You’re delusional if you think the queue times will only exist for 2 days.

Or you have no faith in Classic attracting a crowd.

Are you just pretending that the weeks worth of game time given away gratis by Blizzard never happened? Blizzard was threatened by people on the forums with class action lawsuits because they were unable to log in for days.

What the hell are you talking about?

LOL at 2 days of queue times.

Did you play the stress tests at all?

This person has very obviously never played before sharding was implemented.

Obviously a WoD baby, probably younger than vanilla.

I’m taking some slight immersion issues to NOT have to deal with years of queue times.

Seriously? Do you like it taking 30 minutes to do a simple 10 mob kill quest? Do you really think everyone who is going to play wow classic is going to log in an out at the same time?

Yes, THAT’S A GOOD THING.

Maybe you should stop talking for awhile. Everyone thinks you’re a moron.

12 million “subscribers” not simultaneous players. What the hell does subscription numbers have to do with the physical load on a machine when the flood gates open?
