So lets say each layer has 3k players on it. Lets say they cap the servers at 10k players at launch. A month into the game and about 3k BFA tourists go back to BFA. There will be 7k players left and two layers of 3.5k players on each. Say those 7k players are in for the long term. There will then be two separate layers on the server for the long term, thus ruining the vanilla experience and no real server community can take place.
It’s already been stated by Blizzard it will last a few weeks, then merge it into no layers. Otherwise it would ruin the experience of Classic, i.e. World Bosses, and World PvP.
Blizzard says unequivocally no. Layering will end by Phase 2. So what’s the matter with you? Are you intentionally stirring up crap or are you honestly the kind of person that has to worry about every little thing that might, possibly happen some day.
I don’t have anything to fear, I am not crying because of what if’s like everyone else on the forums seem to be. Anyways I am gonna go back to beta testing Classic.
Layering is a new system for Classics launch based on sharding, via Blizzard it is supposed to end a few weeks after launch, to accommodate the starting areas.
If there are servers with more than 3k active players then there will just be more than 3k on that server. Why would layering still be required at that point?
And the Classic team have repeatedly said that it is only a stopgap measure to handle the massive tourist influx during launch which will by and large disappear by a few weeks in.
