There are entire talent trees that did not change from when they were released before alpha began until now, almost certainly due to lack of time. It’s a worthwhile question to be sure, but honestly Blizzard has dropped the ball far harder with DF so far than closing mage tower.
Speculation into why they only announced 3 days before pre-patch isn’t particularly useful so I won’t even bother. I fully understand the anger but also recognize that mage tower shouldn’t come anywhere close to class and spec talent trees in terms of priority.

Then they should have just left it in anyway and retune it later. 3 days was too late to announce its closure.

And the Mage Tower will return so you can do your raid boss rotation in the one place that requires the weirdest movement and utility spells in the history of the game and has basically no similarity to any real content.

Doesn’t matter to me. If they ended it early I would have got my stuff done sooner. Like if I already didn’t have everything I wanted done. You can’t control this stuff. These people are making millions of dollars off of us and they are publicly traded. I said last year that ABSOLUTELY the xpac would be released in 2022. Because of course it will because they need those box sales every 2 years.

Dude this is Blizzard we are talking about…they can’t be bothered to think ahead about balancing some solo player content… They had to focus on balancing the mythic raid that a small percentage of the population will participate in some time after Thanksgiving…

Priorities. They had to get the classes and tuning and balancing done first. As usual, that’s still not done.
When they realized it wasn’t getting done, they gave as much notice as a company that’s frantically trying to get things done, could. They’re in panic mode if you haven’t noticed.
The issue everyone is ignoring is WHEN or IF it’ll come back.

I literally don’t care.There were balancing issues. There is NOTHING you can do about it.
That isn’t my point.
My point was that with seasons over, rewards gone, something like the mage tower is good filler content in-between.
Otherwise you have these fancy new talents, but nothing to use them on. Except reclearing the same tired content.
This isn’t really a hot take. I think the debate was “when in 2022”. Most people had it pegged first 2 weeks of november, or first 2 weeks of december. Not many had guessed cyber-monday, but we were all within weeks - there aren’t that many viable options given the holidays.

Mage tower has been up since mid December last year, why are you all of a sudden choosing to do it right as the new talent system debuts? I suppose they could have let players know sooner about taking it down temporarily, but it’s just that, temporary.

Personally, I had 1 mog left, Priest and I bought DF this weekend, so used my boost on a Priest to do MT. I missed the announcement Friday about it.

I really don’t want to go find all of those threads I was trashed in every time I tried to advanced my thought on why it would be in 2022. I’m not going to. I promise no one was saying 2022. They all thought march 2023 or even summer.
That makes sense then. I too am missing the DH one, but I haven’t been a fan of that class, so I just don’t care about doing the MT for it.
