Lag/Jittering with every quest hand-in/Level up

How is this seriously still not fixed? 2 weeks is unacceptable considering how big the company is.

I’m sure they wouldn’t like it if consumers started charging for HDD space…

Tatiel, a ‘write’ is calculated as 1 write for the capacity of the drive.

So… if you have a 500gb SSD, once it has written 500gb, that’s one ‘write’

Oh, and for the naysayers up top:

I built it, I’m allowed to break it. If a SATA controller disable allows Windows to pick it up in software after POST and improve performance - maybe that will clue Bliz in on what’s really going on.

Its called troubleshooting.

Dude I really do not get the condescending attitude. I was not rude at all, and said I had a open mind if you wanted to explain…

I posted an automated, one-click script that will apply the workaround for you. It also creates a backup of the file’s permissions before applying changes, that way you can undo the workaround when Blizzard eventually fixes it

It’s in the reddit r/wow thread ‘I created a one-click fix for WoW’s quest turn in bug’ (it’s not letting me post a link here)

Funny how everyone else got to solve it with the read only workaround, and this dude comes with a condescending attitude over everyone, and incentives ppl to mess with BIOS etc when Its not even necessary for the bug on this thread. I hope ppl actually read the thread before trying those unnecessary stuff that is not even related to the problem at hand.

Posts like the one above me makes me lose hope that ppl still read the thread tho. I cant even blame them, as if they only got to read the last posts and see some random dude messing with BIOS they would think we somehow still not know about the work around.

Putting Hotfix.log to read only fixes the freeze/lag for me on Retail . it gets reset when i use the Battle net Launcher to play Classic <it’s no biggie> playing around in BIOS might cause more problems when it’s a game file and not a computer problem

also put tooltip.log to read only and see your game running smoother than before

Your logic is so flawed and wrong. The few that have responded to you, don’t believe you because we all know better. You’re spreading misinformation for people who don’t know and then go mess with stuff. We’re not “naysayers” if we’re right. The condescending attitude does nothing but make you look like an a**. And you’re absolutely right, you’re more than welcome to break your own stuff.

I can see that. ElvUI is a heavy addon. Blizz has already clarified more/large addons means less performance.

I would like to assist you. You say this workaround for locking down the logs did not fix your stutter?

  • What addons do you have running?
  • What are your quality settings?
  • What runtime are you using; DX 11 or 12?

Regarding Windows:

  • Have you tried disabling Windows Full-screen Optimisations?
  • Have you disabled Game DVR?

The two for Windows have a history of causing issues for many games. It has been discussed on many forums and reddit. There’s a helpful repo here that covers many aspects of Windows gaming: https://github.com/CHEF-KOCH/GamingTweaks#windows-gaming-tweaks

Why is this not being worked on, it really makes the game a chore to play… This should really be a priority.

Just wanted to throw this out there: The freeze exists on the PTR. Noticing it while looting chests in the visions.

This has got to be repaired. Please we are begging now. Feels like we are playing a game from the 1970’s.

I also have this problem!

What you even talking about, man. I was answering the other guy that he did not need to remove Elvui to fix this, as I do use Elvui and my problem was solved when I did the read only work around.

Your reply to them came across as “I do use Elvui, and the workaround did not remove [the lag/jitter]”

Yeah, I do apologize if It sounded like that, I’m not native to your language, you see. I’ll try to do better.

It’s OK. Just some confusion. It happens.
