Sadly, this seems par for the course. At least the community came up with a couple work arounds. But, really, this shouldn’t be happening in 2019. They’ve had 15 years of practice implementing patches.

I get that the systems are complex, and bugs happen. But huge ones of this nature should be caught before sending a patch out the door.

Part of me wonders if this isn’t a result of such a limited PTR for 8.2.5; what with them trying to keep it secret.

Anyway, I may just take an extended break from WoW and play something else. Then once they get there stuff in order, I might consider coming back.

You may be having a separate issue. It was mentioned by the CM earlier that some bugs are resmebling this one but are being caused by another issue.

So your saying that the file is being recreated if you delete it? And you also renamed it .bak too?

hm, well. I’m not home yet to see if it still works for me. And make sure to have battlenet app closed. The minute it’s started it will undo the changes. Open the game from the exe in the retail folder.

Yeah, not only this file but if you delete anything that is not your addons the BN just do an update and recreate it next time. If its something important the game will not run until the file is back tho. I did not try your .bak solution yet tho, mostly because I’m satisfied with the read only work around.

Hey all, thanks for your continued reports!

A hotfix should have been released earlier today. Please check that the version next to the play button is 8.2.5.32028 and see if the quest hand-in or leveling up jitters may improve on this update.

There’s been a few reports where this is better after a PC Restart, if it persists on the current version of the game.

As a note, for anyone who tried the Reddit workaround found earlier this week, please undo this for the time being to ensure the game’s hotfix is fully functioning.

Keep in mind the workaround posted on reddit is not supported and doing so is under your discretion. Please take precaution if you do decide to do so.

Please let us know if you are continuing to experience issues on the latest version!

Still having the issue. Not as bad. But there is a 2 second pause before the game continues. I have rebooted my PC and its still happening.
Happens when auto-looting also. Brief pause before game continues.

Yeah not even bothering with the client until this issue is completely resolved will continue to use workaround method and leave Bnet off until further notice.

THe hotfix is NOT working. I restarted my pc and did as you asked and had lag with every quest turn in level up just as before. So looks like another week of this I sure hope that Bliz does something for us customers.
