i’ve noticed this as well, and immediately thought it was because i had addons…but after seeing all these posts, i’m just glad it’s not on my end.
Well I have an open ticket in game about this and get told they have no knowledge about this problem that it is on my end…

so what we have to do,stop doing quests and something like that
WoW has so many terrible GMs. I’m sure that one didn’t have any knowledge of it.

I read through this and just wanted to add that besides the fact that every time I level or anything “flashy” happens on screens I dip from 170fps to near 0 for a few seconds, this also happens anytime I resurrect my hunter pets as well. I haven’t seen that posted yet so i wanted to add that.
+1 for me too. Happens anytime I do anything related to a quest or a world quest. Starting to get incredibly annoying.
So the doing this made my game run smoother than ever, setting tooltip to read only fixed the issue I’ve had where the UI sometimes takes 3-5 seconds to load since like patch 8.1.5! Thanks!
The problem persists
Can we get a blue post on here? It’s been over a day and the lack of communication is unacceptable. At least tell folks if this bug is going to damage our computers. I am going to do the work around for now… but still would really like to know what’s up.

Checking in to confirm along with others - the problem is much worse now. I dunno who did what, but the stutter after doing so much as a world quest or leveling an alt and turning in a quest is becoming abysmal.

Experiencing the same issue. Every time I complete a quest turn in, loot a chest, kill a rare, kill a world boss, kill a dungeon boss, kill a raid boss, level up my character and or azerite necklace I get a 1 to 2 sec lag. Started happening with the new patch. This happens on all my characters in all zones. I play on Shadowsong Realm and Borean Tundra. its is not limited to one certain area, zone, or character. Ty.

Last time I checked I pay money each month to play the game, not have it broken for extended periods of time.
Maybe there could be a little more communication to the GMs to the effect that there is a very obvious problem and what steps are being taken to correct it.
Regardless of the inevitable “read the user agreement” response, they should still have the decency to give people a commensurate number of days credit for this nonsense.

Throwing in my 2 cents. I have noticed that when the frezeze happens for me my fps drop drastically to like 8. It’s only at quest turn ins and leveling up. All zones.
I just want a blue to come in here and say something, literally anything. Don’t just hit us with “we’ll update you when the problem is fixed.” Update us now, tell us what’s wrong, cut the anonymity.

Yeah it’s not unreasonable to desire a response. Most of us are just asking for that. I understand that they may know what the problem is but creating a fix for said problem could be difficult… still I would like to at least be told whether the game is safe to play… they could at least answer that. BUT it appears they won’t. I imagine nothing will happen this weekend since most people are off for the weekend.

Not a chance of that happening as just turning the files to read only makes the Battlenet launcher to update and revert that change the next time you login. Even if that was not a thing its really easy to revert it yourself.
To the others: ignore that other guy trolling. We can and must complain about this stuff as we are within reason. There’s always someone that appear to troll in multiple toons when stuff like this happens, maybe because they are bored or maybe because they find it fun to make ppl who are frustrated even more angry about the situation.

Wait a second, I have to keep read only-ing my files every time I want to play?
I’m happy that I don’t have to worry about it conflicting with my updates, but really? This whole situation is a mess.
