Our raid group has 4 tanks, dunno what you’re talking about. Monk and Demon Hunter primary, Druid (me) and Paladin secondary when primary aren’t available. We just don’t pug is all
oh I have almost all but given up on an alt spec, I am tank spec 100% of the time. there is no way I have the time or patience to grind out ret gear
Yeah, it was a stupid design from the start. Why make it easier for players to change and swap between specs, why make tier gear auto swap spec bonuses?
These things were done to make transitioning between roles easier, and then they just randomly say " F it" and throw that out the window to return what was essentially Vanilla respec costs lol.
Edit
I’m really picky when it comes to consistency of design, like pretty OCD, I just find it annoys me lol.
So things like this trigger me. I don’t really mind which they go with it either tbh, but pick one design philosophy and stick to it.
One of my biggest gripes with modern WoW is how the systems trip over each other and contradict the design choices. It’s like multiple teams are working on different things and none are talking lol.
I really enjoyed this actually.
It’s so annoying having to carry around gear for four different specs.
I mean sure, I primarily only do Guardian and Restoration, but every now and then I like to pew pew and scratch scratch.
It could be that people are so hostile to new tanks. For example if you join a mythic+ dungeon you will have dps complaining about pulling more or less mobs not taking the route they would of taken. Picking a certain talent ect.
nah man, it makes the dpsers sad when tanks can do anywhere near what they can do but have survivability. i would be ecstatic over doing a THIRD of what they do (as opposed to the fifth)! i’m now at 430 or something, NOW i can comfortably run around and do things solo without wanting to bash my face on my keyboard.
the only thing that would make “those types” ok would be to nerf the s__t out of our survivability in exchange.
I’m still disgruntled over having to go back to three sets of gear due to azerite. THAT is the huge problem here imo in regards to having multiple specs that you want to go back and forth to
I completely agree. It’s ridiculous that weapons are spec specific. I can wear the SAME pants in each spec, but nope my brewmaster can’t use his polearm. If I want to heal I need to get 1-2 weapons with int. and if I want to DPS I need to get 2 weapons with agility. They need to make weapons have both dps and healing stats like armor already does.
It’s like you forget how to use a polearm when you change specs lol.
I can’t think of a spec in the game that doesn’t have tank gear that doubles as DPS gear.
For tanking randoms, the problem is that randoms just don’t give gear that is worth the hassle after a point. Once my Guardian spec gets to ~440 what exactly could a random Heroic give me that I’d care about besides offspec loot?
The general problem I see with people getting into tanking is that tanks are expected to know all of the instance, the routing, and what all of the mobs/bosses do before they ever start (this is true for 5man, LFR, and most M+). Tanking requires a different kind of approach and assumed responsibility that the other roles just don’t have to the same degree.
The problem isn’t gearing itemization, it’s not being ‘expected to be a tank 100% of the time’, and it definetly isn’t the actual play of the tanking spec itself; the problem is that the role is different in responsibility to DPS or Healing. For some players that difference in role responsibility is more than they care to learn an overcome or generally deal with so they don’t.
I wish WW could just still use 2H weapons. Remember when they could use staves and polearms back in the day?
Honestly one of the biggest gripes and reasons I don’t play Monk is that WW can no longer use staves (you know like actual martial artists)
LFG dominating the actual worthwhile content to do sorta made it pointless to play a tank. You get no extra reward like you would with a queue. You get groups just as slow as a dps. All the pressure and extra work being put into having tank gear, essensses, and azerite traits just to even have the ability to tank. Might as well just dps and put less stress and blame on yourself.
I just tried to help gear a friend who’s leveling their tank earlier today. And I picked up a very weak healer, 410 to do some m0’s and get my 407 tank friend geared. The healer kept complaining LOL DO YOU NOT SHIELD BLOCK (as if the 4 button tank rotation is complicated or something). Always the tanks fault for everything. Like nah dude, you’re a crap healer and I only took you along cause it’s trivial content just keep the tank alive and the dps can take care of ourselves.
And you put way too much responsibility onto the tank as well. You got to know what to pull, what you can skip, what mobs need to be focused first, where to stand, what is safe to stand in, what is essential to stand in, what kills you to stand in, where to face the boss for mechanics. What to not let the boss walk on. What to not let touch the boss. What to let touch the boss. What to tell dps to interupt. What gimmick to beat for the boss.
Blizzard designed a game as if the only player playing is the tank. Everyone else is just along for the ride and that’s abysmal dungeon design.
I love to tank as brewmaster, but recently I want to start healing. I have a 460 tank polearm, and it’s seriously not fair that I can’t use the same weapon for healing…
Tanks used to have Vengeance that increased damage based on damage taken in the last X seconds, but that allowed tanks to do …silly things.
Stat priorities
Guardian
- Armor/Agility/Stamina;
- Versatility;
- Mastery;
- Haste;
- Critical Strike.
Feral
- Critical Strike;
- Mastery;
- Versatility.
- Haste;
- Agility.
Balance
- Haste = Critical Strike;
- Versatility;
- Mastery;
- Intellect.
You were saying?
Also the fact tanks do crap damage now makes it so boring to play. At least back in earlier expansions you could outdps the bad dps and feel good about yourself. You had a reason to go all out and help finish fights faster. Now your damage is pathetic. You can be the best geared tank in the server and all that means is you just made the healers job easier so the healer can now outdps you since they don’t gotta worry about healing anymore.
Everything sticks to you no matter what which is fine I guess, but just give tanks some proper dps back again.
Doesn’t this just prove that he was right? Of your list Vers/Mastery are in the top 3 for each one of them. Might not be the “perfect” set up, but having top 2/3 of a stat is better than having the 4/5th of each stat, right?
This is why I’m leveling this Druid atm. Prot Warrior is …safe in most instances.
When the role gets boring I just pull more and go faster. From what I’ve seen if I feed the DPS more things to kill and keep the healer casting they generally don’t have time to complain.
I always liked the fact that I could help a weak group. Now it’s just like, the ship is going down. Maybe I’ll survive. But they won’t.
Players are getting worse. I’ve found at this stage of an expansion, more and more players are clueless about mechanics and have zero self-awareness.
I need an addon that I can use to prepare mechanics pep talks for all the trash and bosses in every dungeon I’ll be doing. Click a button for the next trash pack. Or next boss.
Not at all. Crit is either important or it’s a horrible drain on stats I might want to be using.
Do you use every random piece of trash gear that drops because “it’s all the same”? I think not.
In legion it was easy to switch to tank (aside form legendaries) - but I feel like azerite armor made this very unattractive.
To tank in bfa you either need azerite two gear sets (one of which will always be your inferior stuff) or to spec tank for everything… unless you’re a raider and you get fed gear - but even so most content needing tanks is actually lower-mid level. Takes two hours to get an uldir lfr going for example.
All the other content grind that they have offered us this expansion its better to be in dps spec with dps traits so youre literally making their eternal grind even longer for wanting to tank in other content (WQ’s, bs questing for HoA and essence). Pretty silly if you ask me.
They have literally by design caused a shortage of tanks with the azerite system.
Which is funny cause having three specs to choose form and talents to go with them was very liberating when it came out. No need to reset your talents just switch to your prot spec and throw on a shield.
I suppose you could argue even back then you needed tank specific gear and stats but at this point I think no one wants to carry separate gear and make separate sets. I certainly dont wanna worry about +dodge gear. But I sure as heck would like to have reforging back.
Why has there been a lack of tanks since the base game and every single expansion if the fault is BfA?
In classic people are literally paying for their tanks either in upfront gold or reserved righteous orbs/unneeded loot.
