What you’re saying is that it’s meant to be a long, slow time-waster. Why would anyone be happy about that?
A casual is someone who decides what they are going to do after logging in and how much time they want to spend on what. They feel free to change their minds at any time. They do not feel constrained by self-styled “elites” who publicly insult them. They see no reason to want to play with players who seem miserably unhappy on all levels.
No, but it will make it so your gear progression isn’t over like a month and a half into the patch like in 9.0 (though it probably still will be, this isnt much of a grind). And if they made it titan forge up to 233 but made the gear drop at 215 and you just had to keep killing rares (since there are no WQ) or looting chests praying for a 233 you would hate it and complain here anyway. Titanforging is never a solution because it requires a lower base item level to reach one item level you can now grind for.
I learned a while ago not to get hung up on predictive calculations on such items, whether it be artifact power, azerite, anima, etc. These systems are all entirely arbitrary and are more based on how long the developers want the content to take based upon theoretical activity levels. If they want it to take X months to do Y thing, they figure out how much Z they think it will take to get there. If not enough players are getting there, they adjust it later so the timing is still about right.
I’m pretty happy with how things are on Korthia. I have three razorwing pieces equipped and two in my bags. I’ve already done a couple of upgrades, just from playing two evenings. Sure, it will take a while to max them, but I certainly don’t see it as a grind all day every day situation. This patch is going to be with us a while. Relax and enjoy it.
I haven’t spent enough time in Korthia yet to have an opinion on the grind, but I do think it would be cool if the tokens you can get from the vault in lieu of gear could be exchanged for relics in addition to the other stuff you can exchange them for.
Edit: Or let me exchange some of this valor I will never use for relics! They can fiddle with the exchange rate however they want to control the pace of the grind, but it would be nice to have less useless currency.
I don’t mind the relics grind. If I want the gear I will work for it, more than likely I will be content with just a couple of lower level pieces per character. My biggest gripe is replacing the weekly souls quest for renown with this new weekly. It takes 10x as long to complete.
Well, it’s only been a day or so for me, and I’ve not quite seen the great currency flood yet. At a glimpse, I see need 10’s of thousands of currency to upgrade stuff. Not even “everything”, just “stuff”. So, we’ll just have to see how much shows up through organic play to see how it goes.
Mind, I have no intention of doing just one thing. It seems Torghast may well be another black hole of time to get points and powers and what not.
As a “casual” player (whatever that means) I am going to agree with you. That’s why I quit after MOP and only started playing again six months ago. I was actually happy playing BFA and Shadowlands pre-patch. Now I keep running into NPCs I have no chance of soloing against like in The Caged Bird quest. (I’m playing an Unholy DK lvl 60 with gear ranging from lvl 150 to 200.) By the way, when I say “I’m a casual player” I mean I don’t like running raids. In the past, I kept getting placed in raid groups where the players were a bunch of anal openings. I rather play solo PVE. And my main is a level 60 Death Knight. The lvl 54 Night Elf Demon Hunter is an alt.
