Korthia is not for casual players

Korthia’s reward system is not designed for actual casual players. It was intended for players who are willing to grind rares, treasures, events, and mobs on a single toon all day, every day.

The numbers on PTR seemed wrong, but unbelievably, it went live like this. Did the devs design the system to keep the hardcores pacified until the raid comes out? Or does this extreme amount of grinding mean that 9.2 is coming in spring of 2022 or later?

Elitists are quick to point out that casuals should be happy being able to earn a full set of iLvl 233 gear, yet that would require not only mid-patch renown but also hundreds of hours of farming catalogued research.

I am not just posting this to criticize system, however. I want it to succeed.

Making one or more of the following changes would go a long way towards making Korthia more accessible for its intended casual audience, not merely bored hardcores who are perpetually logged onto their mains.

[1]
Increase the amount of epic Korthian relic items gained from daily/weekly quests to benefit long-term progress.

[2]
Add Korthia and/or Death’s Advance callings with caches that award additional epic Korthian relic items.

[3]
Add an epic Korthian relic item that can be readily looted from any treasure or rare once per day, to benefit long-term progress.

[4]
Increase relic and/or research gains across the board as renown level increases.

[5]
Add a weekly Ve’nari quest that awards epic Korthian relics for doing activities in the base Maw.

[6]
Add a daily/weekly epic Korthian relic reward to random dungeons, LFR, or random BGs.

[7]
Add an epic Korthian relic reward to all callings.

The situation in 9.1 looks to be far worse for casuals than it was in 9.0, as we will have to be farming endlessly for a base item level (in comparison to other activities in that season) that we could obtain readily from our covenants, from honor gear, and from world quests in 9.0. (Covenant gear will not be further upgradable in 9.1, Honor gear will be nerfed across the board, and world quest rewards will not be enhanced by a full season’s worth of 26 item levels even with maximum renown.)

I mean, or you could just jump in a raid or some M+ every now and then?

World quest heroes are never satisfied.

Play the game, get the rewards. It’s fairly simple.

You could say the same about elitist jerks. They apparently want only raids/mythic+ to give rewards and have the rest of the game reward nothing.

Raids and Mythic+ are great for those who enjoy them, but the game does have other content as well.

That is incorrect, as My rares dont give anything.
Purple mobs stopped spawning
Chests stopped spawning
And eggs stopped droping

The highest levels of end game content shouldn’t reward the same items as killing 10 boars and collecting 5 acorns.

Sorry bud, it is what it is.

Well then, it’s a good thing that no one in this thread or any other suggested that killing 10 boars and collecting 5 acorns should reward the same items as the highest levels of end game.

Why do you people lie so poorly?

This is the same as benthic gear. It could get to a high level but it would take forever.

You can get gear from world content, but the best gear will and should always be from the hardest endgame like raids, mythic+ and rated pvp.

Korthia’s gear can be upgraded to normal raid level, but it should be difficult and time consuming to do because you’re getting raid-level gear without actually raiding.

So what’s the problem?

Working for the gear? Would you prefer to just get it week 1 of 9.1 and then to be free to complain there’s no casual content?

Their whole schtick is feeling superior to others. It’s what they crave and it doesn’t really matter what they are saying as long as they get to talk down to someone.

I personally think the system is fine the only issue is at some point during this patch if your dedicated you should be able to upgrade it all the way to 245-250.

Then if your a casual dedicated player you can get some sweet item level.

The gear should reach normal level on one character who has farmed more than full-time by the end of the patch? That’s not remotely casual.

I actually had fun in Korthia today. I may spend time getting some of the gear. I may even upgrade it over time. I doubt any of my alts will spend any significant time there though.

We have quite a bit of time before the next expansion still.

That’s not what they’re asking.

I got one of the, what, 200? pieces that’s upgradeable. The upgrade bot said it would be 7500ish currency (whatever it is) to get the 233 piece.

I don’t expect the game to be dropping 200s forever, and in time, the WQs and what not will drop higher pieces. But even then, I can see 5000 per piece.

And that’s just a boat load of currency.

That says that it’s not a gearing method for “casuals”, it’s a gap filler method like valor. Where someone doing alternate content may want to boost one or two pieces to plug a hole, but getting a set of any kind, to any level, is going to be a crazy grind.

You didn’t try hard at all when you made up that lie about casuals asking for mythic raid gear for killing 10 boars and picking up 5 acorns.

I really don’t think WoW has been for casual players in general since before Legion.

Casuals in 9.0 - there’s nothing for us to do, nothing to aim for and the rewards are low item level, where’s our progression?

So Blizzard facilitates that.

Casuals in 9.1 - oh no that’s too much work.

It’s not really meant to be a gearing path though. The point of gear like this is to be a catch up for alts or to fill in a piece here and there if you’re unlucky with drops. That’s all it is.

It’s not something designed to get you maxed in a full scale upgraded set in a short time. For that you’ll need to go to higher endgame where the actual gear progression is.

You will be getting end of normal raid tier loot from korthia which is better than the equivalent open world max in 9.0 by a lot. And they learned from all the open world people complaining on the forums and chose to delay it a bit so that you don’t run out of progression in like 3 weeks. Be grateful. And last 2 bosses of normal loot level is very good for this content.
