Korthia is not for casual players

You’re not a damn casual, you play for 10 hours a day

We can’t get along because we got definition twisters sitting back breaking how we use language and confusing everyone

If I have any recommendation for Korthia gear as dps, it would be to have the choice to replace versatility with haste or mastery. Thanks

It’ll actually go by pretty quick. Even as a casual you’ll eventually build up enough currency to do so. Keep in mind that it’s not made to be content you get done in a day.

I got the Voidtalon of the Dark Star last night after an amazing 2 week grind that involved 50 existing characters and 15 new ones. I’m more hardcore than any of you.

I wonder how you can create a thread and hope anyone takes you serious when you just shoot against a certain group in the game.

Why grind? just do your daily and farm treasures and rares while doing your daily. Eventually within a month you will hit 233

Doesn’t that sort of describe what casual players do? Its certainly the sort of thing I do.

I thought non-casuals were getting ready to dive into the raid and megadungeon tomorrow? At that point I suspect Korthia will be a casual playground.

Whats crazy is that there was just another thread by casuals that said that it was too easy and that they had already finished much of what was there for them to do.

:man_shrugging:t3:

The moral of the story? Gamers are nuts.

What makes you think that casuals don’t play alts?

I suppose it all comes down to what defines a ‘casual’. If a casual is someone who avoids grinds, then I suppose that would be true.

The game is nothing but grinds though, so I’m not sure what said player is doing with their time.

As someone who considers himself a causal (this being defined as someone who doesn’t raid or do mythic+ dungeons) I think Korthia is perfectly fine for someone like me. The gear grind feels quite comparable to the time it would take me to grind out dungeons and the rewards it does offer allows me to easily play the content I do play.

If I had any criticism for the current design, it’s that Korthian research/Stygia can’t be found in Normal and Heroic dungeons, which are the dungeon content I like to do. I fully get why it’s not, but I wish it were all the same.

TIL I’m no longer a Casual Gamer.

Then go do some real content, stop wanting raid gear for trivial content.

What’s an alt?

Got to play over the weekend, so far I’m good with the pace of the catalogued research grind. I am annoyed that Ve’nari is offering me gold instead of stygia for her quests. Grinding out a thousand stygia isn’t all that quick anymore, only to end up with a piece of gear I just have to disenchant. I don’t see any reason for the base ilvl 200 stuff to be a long grind to get, since it’s essentially the ilvl of the covenant gear we already had. I’m totally cool with it then taking a long time to upgrade.

My other complaint is that Korthia seems really small compared to Argus. (I didn’t play BFA beyond leveling at the very beginning, so Legion is the most recent thing I have to compare this to.) I would’ve enjoyed a bigger zone for the wait.

Overall I’m enjoying the patch and Korthia and, dare I say, the new systems. I like the new Torghast, too.

+1 for pointing out that what casual players actually are.

Actually it doesn’t

Your going to maybe put in 2 hours a day before you cap (assuming everything isn’t farmed to hell like it currently is) once the hardcore folks stop competing for it (I am tier 4 research already with less then 20 hours /played spent on the effort)

As a casual - I am assuming you mean that you login for maybe a hour or 2 a few times a week - so your looking at a few months at most before you cap out your research codex rep.

I am trying to think of what your asking for - are you saying you should give casual players 233 gear in the first month when they might only put in a dozen hours? Because I could see that impacting the hardcores (who would either be fully decked in 233 in the same month OR who would be cheesed off because you put a hard cap on gear progression)

How is it not casual by taking ones time to kill things and gain rewards from doing it? My only gripe would be to make it bigger. SL zones to me just feel very flat and 1 dimensional. A majority of the NPCs are just there for decoration and don’t actually have a purpose.

These threads always make me feel like I’m playing the game wrong… I’m having a good time on Korthia, I don’t feel like my time is wasted like I did with SL launch.

Only thing I’m not liking about it, is that unless you have progressed so far/renown into 9.0 content, you don’t get the quest to go to Korthia. Which is fine since most folks have already did most of 9.0 stuff on mains. But it does kinda of suck, if you don’t feel like doing all that stuff again on alts.

They should just at least make it a true slot-machine interface. Since that’s all it is.
