Hate to break it to you, but everything in every version of the game is pretty trivial.
What is enjoyable is an immersive world that doesn’t give tons of shortcuts so players can win win win win win non stop until they logout and do it again next daily.

Pvp In sod is absolute garbage though.
I love sod and I have faith In later phases. And I am a primarily pvp player.
But holyyy… Sod 25 pvp is absolute crap.
I don’t need to see gear to assess risk.
If I see a priest I know he can 0-100 someone with a single click of penance in white gear.
Hunters gear doesn’t matter since his pet is a raid boss.
Warrior are a free kill even in bis gear.
Warlocks are immortal in meta+drain life.
Dont talk to me about transmog making pvp imbalanced

The world was immersive 20 years ago. It’s an out dated piece of trash now. The lore is top notch but many big mmos have way more immerse worlds. (GW2, ESO) and I hate eso.
Yea 25 was a terrible level cap, that’s not what this thread is about. Transmog would be in the game forever. And every naysayer in this thread is saying sure as long as we can turn it off. How come we haven’t reached an agreement yet? Hmmmm.

Hard disagree. It is still beautiful art, good gameplay, and a great world.
Though I don’t play many MMOs just this or dota so not much to compare. But whenever I see videos of other games they rarely even come close.
But I can say vanilla looks way better than tbc, wotlk, and retail. It isn’t even close.

What happened to retail is that majority of the actual vanilla players eventually quit. A bunch of new kids came in. And then it devolved into the garbage it is today.
I played the 2019 release of classic. It was fun to go back to my childhood memories. But now we been there done that.
Sod is fun because it’s classic but with a lot of changes.

SoD is basically only fun because it is fresh and, yeah, a bit of new content is interesting too.
But it is much worse than a fresh server on its own.
Or a fresh server without all the clown abilities and just new content.

That’s just bias and pretty silly bias. GW2 and ESO have random encounters and events that happen and a dynamic changing world. If I go to loch madon for the 15th time it’s still gonna be the exact same as the first 3 times I quested there. And the graphics are out dated as hell. You are just biased and have an unhealthy fear of change

There literally are normal classic servers up and running right now. Why are you not there instead?
The art is beautiful and each adventure in the loch is different and you meet new people each time.

Most of my playtime is on Era these days…
But I am playing SoD because it is fresh and I want to challenge my beliefs about why vanilla is good. But so far SoD has mostly proven me right (at least in my mind) - the version is way worse than a standard Era would be.

That thread was hilarious and had the added amusement of seeing a few faces that have asked for transmog (or graphical “glow up”/retail models and spell effects) with a toggle in Classic screeching in anger at the OP’s audacity to request such a thing.
