That is weird because for me it was only showing update TBCC, perhaps I was lucky to not have the Shadowlands update.
Well… I have a fix that may not really make anyone happy… uninstalled both TBC and WoW Classic, revo uninstalled and nuked it from the registry. Settings keybindings and addons are now gone but the game at least loads.
Or could wait till 3pm PDT… as the maintenance says? 
would say yeah but it was prompting for an update through the battle.net launcher, could be bad code or bad deployment of the patch.

High chance it’s bad code. For a while it got another small (41mb) update that launched the game to the server list and then another small update that had this error again. They are working on stuff in the backend that is messing with this so I wouldn’t touch the game until the “maintenance” sign is removed for risk of breaking stuff. But yeah we all have the itch to play haha.
I mean they got bought by microsoft and we all know microsoft just works 100% of the time why are you even questioning it

The Microsoft deal will only go through June 2023 at the earliest, but yeah we’ll see how that goes. I do like my series X, so I’m hopeful.

The issue is fixed as far as it giving you a message telling you to download a new version. You can open wow and it will bring you to the server list. Still need to wait for them to finish though.
Yeah exact same thing happened as earlier. Micro-update that fixed the error and game launches now. I would bet in 15 mins, another micro-update will break it again haha. We might actually get the full 8 hour maintenance today.
They just deployed a patch I think because my game just updated again, and I can get too server selection (everything is still down though).
Excellent. Everyone that listened has it working. 42800 is the correct version as of right now. 01 seems to be some mistake on blizzards end.

I hope this does not come off at trollish or anything but I have found the cure for this problem. simply ensure you are not facing your monitor at a southwest angle as measured from your chair while typing on keyboard. if this is the case please turn your desk 180 degrees to solve the problem.
To the brave lag ridden Aussies out there this is actually 180 degrees off from your 180 degrees. If you end where you started you are simply doing it wrong.
