As someone that has been doing RBG’s casually since the beginning, I completely agree and welcome this change. I can’t stand the stoner chit chat anymore
This kinda reminds me of the current random epic bg situation — let’s have a team of random pugs on random specs go against a full premade team on voice chat.
It’s not a good PvP experience for pugs when a bracket devolves into “join a premade or get stomped by one.”

i am rbgs leader if they remove 10vs10 is pointless to play this game i want to play with friends even we are old is still what i like in this game everyone solo q rbgs way keep both of them you don`t see what happen with solo q arena is more toxic then you think ppl leave afk grift etc feed think with 8ppl i want rbgs to stay think before ask i want to play with 9 friends not going play with 7 randoms i will just unsub if 10vs10 vanish
I’ve literally answered this multiple times. Multiple times. You just aren’t reading. It’s perfectly justified. I love objective based PvP. I’ve competed at the high end in RBGs and do in fact love them.
People’s anger is misplaced. Don’t get mad at me. Don’t get mad at the New 8v8 mode which PvP desperately needs. Get mad at Arena for destroying the rest of PvP and it’s participation over the years. Which is why 10v10 is going away. The End.
how are they going to punish the 1-2 people who don’t contribute in the lobby? do they get free CR for everyone else contributing?

Ion literally said in an interview that there is an Overhaul to RBGs and how they work. The 8v8 model is now how they are going to work and be the default.
Yes, but the most likely thing atm is that there will be an 8v8 full premade mode and an 8v8 solo/duo queue mode running along side together.
Hopefully they are not doing away with this but Ion’s wording was less than precise and to my knowledge no one at blizz has clarified.
If it is only Solo RBG it will be dead. Think of how toxic solo arena is and multiply that.
This thread is already proof. You have people announcing in this thread they won’t defend because they are too important for that.

At the beginning I suspect the queue will be fast but it will not take long for the toxicity to drive away the healers, dedicated tanks and anyone that wants to play to the objectives of the map.
Sure, they put a buff on of anyone not a tank if they grab the flag. It won’t be the same.
I do not see any way that Solo Queue RBG is anything but a cluster.
You will have flag carry maps with an FC on either side waiting on their team to group up and go after the EFC but they will be busy fighting in mid and will only troll the FC if they yell for help or for them to get to the EFC.
You will have maps like Basin where the group takes a node and all leave immediately after capping. Because no one wants to defend.
Kotmogu and similar? They will be the maps to drive away healers. Large fights around a node and no one peeling for their healers and people trolling them.
Then queue times increase as fewer play due to this.

I played a ton of Blitz this season and there has been FAR less toxicity in Blitz than I have seen in random BGs or LFG RBGS.
LOL. Tell me that you haven’t played any Blitz without telling me that you haven’t played any Blitz.
Actually, coordinated CC and peeling for healers happens frequently in Blitz when out of low MMR. UIs give enough information to know what is going on without everyone having to be on voice.
Also healers can duo queue and that person can help them out while on voice together.

RBGs have been a total fkn mess for a decade, glad they are going away, blitz is a much better approach and is WAY more inclusive.

Glad RBGs are here to stay, but still worried how rated Blitz is going to fragment the community further like Solo Shuffle did. The best way Blitz and 10v10 RBGs can coexist with each other is if 10v10 is given a unique seasonal reward like we’ve been asking for years. Even a simple recolor of the Mythic+ seasonal mount would be enough to incentivize players and keep 10v10 alive and thriving.

That’s a relief. Keeping preform RBGs is a win and all the RBG community can ask for. Even if they reduced the size to 8v8 instead of 10v10 that would also be acceptable. Give preform RBGs the buff for tanks and it’s good go design wise.
What people are missing in this thread, including those blaming arena etc, is that Blizzard has done nothing to promote RBGs. No transmog or collectables unique to them, no balancing for them that has allowed class/spec stacking, no unique seasonal titles, nothing. They are entirely community driven.
The same can’t be said for any other game mode be it PvP or PvE, and that is the largest reason the player activity numbers are down.
It’s like releasing a new movie without any press and then wondering why no one goes and watches it.
Rated solo que RBGs are only going to hurt the very same people that want it and want change in other modes. You don’t like gear imbalance in random bgs? Now people will say que solo RBGs and get gear no excuse. You don’t want premades in randoms? Now they will say que rated solo RBGs no excuse. You don’t want longer que times in solo Shuffle? Too bad because the thin healer player base is now split between solo que RBGs and solo Shuffle.
