Just remove warsong and ab from the game at this point

Oh I FULLY suspect this will happen. I know for a fact there are people doing this grind because it was something they wanted to check off and they felt cheated that they couldn’t before. That’s where this really odd jealousy and anger at people who simply got R14 using the old system comes from. (note that I think that some of these players find it more “special” than the people who got it before, especially those who just had a good time playing with their groups and did it more for having fun with friends and for the PVP than anything else).

Right. There are a lot of people who just want to check off WoW boxes and be done. We had a raider who had been with us for a while use all his DKP to take a really wanted Naxx weapon, who then quit the game and never logged on again. Some of the other warriors were pretty disappointed over this one and were even mad at the guy for it. It happens.

Anyway, I still think the other BGs will start popping again after the wave of people who just wanted R14 drops off. Simply because there are people who like the other BGs and want to play them. Maybe you aren’t a fan of WSG but some people still are, and not all of them play in premades.

Nah, everyone just hops on their alt after their first ranker is done. Or quit since there’s no more gear treadmill.

Maybe. I’ll be honest, I’m growing more pessimistic by the day.

I don’t -hate- wsg per se, it actually used to be my favorite bg in og vanilla pre-xrealm bgs… but the circumstances for getting an actual good game out of it are just too rare…

Pug v pug, both teams getting 2-3 healers and either both team getting a FC or neither getting a FC… and that’s before the gates even drop and you find out whether your team has severe brain damage or not (I’ve literally lost a 20 year old account for trying to get pugs to leave midfield in WSG and help push EFC) or whether they just queud up to fight in mid (and nearly invariably NOT secure any kills)… The odds of getting all that, AND a solid/competitive game that isn’t juist a 3-0 stomp because half the other team was in greys/greens and/or quit at the first cap is just astronomically low.

Give me AB all day, personally… the smaller scale fights tend to lend itself better to solo queuing (or at most very small group queing) and the games of higher quality.

That all said, as I said above, despite BGing more over this game’s lifetime than most or even all of the people in this thread combined, even level capping in era right now is starting to feel sisyphean. I don’t really enjoy AV in 99% of the circumstances… and if that’s all I really have to look forward to at 60 here, I’m not even sure I’ll care enough to hit 14… Checking the box would be cool, but the entire point is the gear which is meaningless to me if I can’t even use it to kill people with in BGs because those bgs don’t pop (and/or the actual experience when they do pop sucks… I literally play 3x toons at once already just to be able to immediately /afk out of any game with a premade that isn’t completely terrible and swap toons)

Not alot of people like that. I’d wager though. I left original vanilla going into TBC with 120k hks on that toon, and have 100k between my two classic toons, 40k on som, and original tbc up to cata + 6 years of pservers xd

Def not. my lock from og vanilla had 105k or so, my rogue ended up in the 60-70k range, then an enhance somewhere around 30k. None of which spent a second in AV beyond what they needed for Rep.

I never did add everything up beyond that since I tend to main swap each expansion/era, doing ret in bc, dk in wrath, Shadow and Rogue in cata, Monk/lock in MoP… literally 8 toons in WoD (because pvp gearing was so absurdly easy and my favorite thing was the highmaul coliseum 25 player FFA event), and continued that many toons into Legion (where I also 0-prestige 500’d with 3 months to spare before BfA… Losing that mount/account alone is the main reason I will never again buy a retail expansion, even if they ever fixed retail to not suck. There where only like 150 of those mounts out there at the time… but my job at the time let me play at work a lot)

No idea what any of my lost classic toons, or SoM toons where at… The SoM lock would be an outlier anyway padded with extra hks since AV was the meta… Sadly all of those got lost when the account got nuked early wrath classic.

The best time for it honestly was MoP when Oqueu addon was working well enough to make pugging RBGs a viable endeavor where you could rate/review players in order to better form teams and just spam RBGs instead of reg bgs.

ok jordan peterson

Exactly.

This is WoW, people will do the most miserable thing if it is more efficient.

AV has been the most efficient way for the solo queue masses to grind out huge piles of honor since '06. Besides, Rank 14 is not a PVP enjoyment achievement, it is an honor farming achievement and those are not precisely the same thing.

I’m providing free tissues to anybody crying about the lack of pugs to farm in wsg and ab.

We’ll see. If things don’t change In 6 months I’ll admit that I was wrong about this meta shifting. If things do change will you admit to being wrong? Or for that matter will anyone who keeps saying stuff like this admit to being wrong?

When a person quits it takes them out of the queue pool, making it harder to fill an 80-person battleground or one side ends up having very long queues that make it take way longer to get 500k so that side will queue weave.

I feel you on this. My original motivation to get a premade team together (way back when WSG started) was to counter this. I do think a lot of players queue into WSG on druids on purpose so you often have the FC but pug healers are another matter as is not getting players who think they won because of their HK count while farming mid even though their team got stomped on.

A good solid team of the right comp of 3 can beat a mid-tier premade, but even that can be hard for a person who just wants to log in when they can get some free time and queue.

I’d like to see AB popping a lot more too. So no argument. Here’s hoping that by the time you hit 60 you can play some good old AB.

Just to be clear – I never queue with more than 3 people in a stack, and mostly I solo queue.

When I came back to era about a year ago there was like 50 pvpers total across both factions, and we all had to work together to make a viable community. I’m thrilled era is so popular right now, and it’s dope that AV pops because for a long time there was just warsong. Lots of people worked hard to get AB and AV to pop on their respective weekend events. It’s just a shame that hph is so extremely tilted in AV and so now it’s all we get.

They should just buff concerted efforts honor given, and buff the amount of honor your get for objectives in AB and Warsong or something. Game design is about incentive structures.

Also I never premade ever and pugstompers have a psychological injury hahaha

Cheers,
The business mage

I can confirm that I will be doing my alt after completing 13 with my main. I’ve got quite a few members of my guild doing pvp some for the first time. In fact a few have already started doing their alts. AV will be the Meta for the foreseeable future. The moment it isn’t pvp will die the same death it did before. Participation will drop to less than 100 and the meta will return to Pre-mades farming pugs and win trading.

No they can’t remove WSG because the real pvp’ers play WSG and they will definitely queue WSG into other premades full of real pvp’ers and not just not queue WSG because there’s no pugs to stomp. Right???

Gettin called out!

Awesome.

Since you are so confident I will ask the same question to you:

I get the impression from you specifically that you won’t admit to being wrong. Instead, you’ll just make doom posts about “PVP being dead again”

If you really want those alts to hit R13 through AV you may want to rank more than one at a time.

If it does happen it will be after SOM or Classic+ is released. At which point I’ll simply cancel my subscription. In the past I’ve also been a pretty hardcore Eve online player, so its not as though I don’t have options. In fact if blizzard doesn’t address the GDKP, Booster, Bot, Gold buying and inflation issues, in the near future, I’ll also exit stage left. If AV suddenly loses its Meta status I’ll make sure to come by and admit I was wrong before ending my subscription. However, there is no question, pvp will die if AV isn’t the meta for ranking.

What if it happens before then? Will you admit to being wrong or is that too hard for you to do?

Ok, I guess this is kind of an answer in the same post. Awesome. We will see.

According to you. Some would say it’s going through its dark days right now.

/s
Yeah clearly that’s what happened. It took 4 years and FINALLY coincidentally right when the entire pvp ranking system was changed to the hotdog water it is now… THAT’S when everyone decided they’re tired of it all. Has nothing to do with the 3 brain cell decision they made on ranks and their incompetence. Not at all. Just a coincidence. Not a conspiracy. Coincidence.

It is. People arent forced to run AB/WSG for pvp progression anymore. Theyre not forced to feed themselves to premades anymore.

So they arent.

I really dont understand how you people are so surprised by this.

Is it that difficult for you to imagine there are some people that solo or small group queue a battleground - that aren’t AV

I just don’t like WSG or AB, so I don’t play them.
