There’s no point to queue WSG if you’re ranking because of honor. Why queue wsg or ab and play your character and use abilities when you can afk av? Why is that so difficult for people to understand?
And, for what it’s worth, there are games sometimes and fun ones too when the number of afk lazy classic era rankers is limited.
Also, for your knowledge - I don’t queue as a pre-made. There’s actually players that like to play their characters and use abilities every once in a while!!!
That’s honestly what it is. It’s a snowball effect - I have friends that ranked in classic and then era that cloned their characters and played some warsong but the era rankers just ruin things for everyone.
“Oh no I have to press more than 2 buttons?? I’m just gonna afk at gy so I can go back to my av safe space and not see a player from the opposing faction and get free honor so I can get gear and rank that was gatekept from me from the mafia and the premades that ruined classic for everyone booooo”
Oh I forgot “premades and mafia all mad that we can all get rank 14 now and have no pugs to farm!!! “ LOL
That explains it. No matter the BGs with pug vs pug I’ve noticed that the side that tries harder is the one with the queues. It makes sense but I’ve said this before (not recently) and a lot of people don’t really believe it.
… and no this isn’t a conspiracy theory LOL. To the above.
To explain as a horde player in most of pug AVs I’ve played there are 10-15 alliance on defense, generally pretty geared, and the horde mostly go north over and over. Then the map either gets turned totally blue (to where the horde get farmed at the cave) or the horde sit at SPGY and fight there, following ZERO strategy to cap it properly, literally like watching Netflix while hardly looking at the screen, until the allies win.
Also, there is this weird opinion that the ally bunkers are not to be touched or defended. Then when there are 8 marshalls well how did they get there?? Yes like half of these horde at least do not know the basics of AV other than “the end boss has to die” and finally “LTs need to die”.
The frustrating part has been almost nobody wanting to try so I’ll admit I found the horde premade thing and I’ll follow their strat and listen to whatever and heal and pay full attention or I wouldn’t have joined it. It’s just about not wanting to deal with people who don’t know how to play the map at all and do not try. I’m only typing this paragraph because someone reads my posts (and I know this person reads forum posts) and they commented on it indirectly “There are people on here who go on about how much they hate the rush strat but here they are in this Discord” so I am typing it here and I’m sorry to that person but I prefer what I prefer.
ANYWAY back to the topic. I am now planning to play WSG and AB on Era if they come back on one of my toons for fun anyway so here’s hoping for many peoples sake.
There is though.
There’s this thing called opportunity cost for those that are ranking.
And for those that aren’t, the games are there but either 1) bad games cuz current gen of players are well… what they are 2) games don’t fill 3) imbalanced games 4) occasionally good games if all stars aligned and teams are even.
This is because 99% of the time 10-15 alliance players get killed at bal by horde players that play the game vs alliance players that don’t know how to dismount and hope that they’ll survive by pressing w.
That doesn’t stop them from clicking the join queue button. Everyone that ranks isn’t obsessed with hitting caps soely through the most ‘optimal’ route. It’s a 20 year old MMORPG, the PvP of which has always been a meme.
Several times there have been about 10 alliance sitting and waiting in IWB and then going after the Bal group. Those ones are almost always really geared.
I’m not saying any of this is bad, just explaining my observations from the horde side as I know you are from the ally side. I’m surprised there is not more talk about defense in the ally chat.
I even thought about reactivating my ally account to play on that side a little and see how it is. Yes, this is weird but I can be weird sometimes.
I would agree with you, but sadly AV is by far way more efficient than any other bg. It’s actually quite insane the disparity between the three if you’re solo queuing/not pug stomping
Even if you’re weaving all three, odds are you’re not getting anything but AV (that might change with ally AV queued being 10+ min)
I will agree though, nothing stops anyone from queueing up. From the people I’ve come across that like to play, what I heard is that generally 1) games are bad (quality of players, imbalance, doesn’t fill) 2) queue doesn’t pop, 3) ranking and bad for honour - and for those reasons amongst more people don’t queue again
Modifying rep gainz (or for classic+ , rep rewards) might be a way to encourage participation. I think ill finally get around to earning that friendly trinket on my warlock for more +stamina
There usually is, maybe less so now though. When it was 6 min AV win/loss meta, playing defence you would get called a bunch of names by ally, get whispers from horde from playing D etc. And tbf was pretty similar on horde too, i would also play d for fun.
Yeah, I saw you say that too about the name-calling. Which is sad and unwarranted. Sorry you had to deal with that.
I think the AV meta is just shifting a little bit to where ally players are more interested in defending (especially if queues grow). It always does. These changes tend to start the AB/WSG shift though. For what it’s worth.
It’s like arguing with Twinks, they’re too deluded by self interest to see the harm their actions cause.
WSG and AB would pop more if people felt WSG and AB where worth doing… No one wants to zone in to fight your terrain exploiting, fully flasked/consumed out premade as a pug on a team with 7 greenie rogues and no healers.
Suddenly when there’s no pugs to smash, and premades only would face premades the bracket dies completely. It’s almost like, exactly like the twink situation, yall are just parasites sucking the blood out of a host until it dies, even if the host dying also harms you.
MAYBE you’ll get more people spreading their wings once they have their r14 gear… or maybe (what I predict) is people will pat themselves on the back for finally checking off the rank 14 box, meme around for a few days, or even a few weeks, then just stop playing entirely.
Blizzard is entering a pretty dramatic player retention problem, and it’s largely because the product itself has been poorly managed and substandard, and the play experience has been on the backslide as a result. It’s not just classic either, it’s literally EVERY blizzard IP, and if anything, classic has been the least impacted by it.
