Just lost a fortune thanks to trading post

I mean it was never said these items wouldnt be added back at a later date. And with tcg items multiple times being added to twitch prime, is it really a surprise? Just sounds like poor planning not selling them when they where a million gold

Yeah, you probably shouldnā€™t buy super expensive pets and items.

Stop being a sucker. Do you think the devs actually like people buying 500 dollar ebay trading cards?

the company isnt responsible for your poor financial decisions :3c ill enjoy my new spectral cub

You should have the ability to earn everything in the game though gameplay, full stop

Iā€™m also one that doesnā€™t have sympathy, Iā€™m afraid. Those that bought it got exactly what they paid for. The item. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. It may be unfortunate that those with the item didnā€™t get to do what they wanted with it (keep it that rare forever, sell it, whatever). But thatā€™s not on Bliz.

Supply and demand. You thought you were in control of the supply. You were wrong.

lol, thatā€™s what anyone gets thatā€™s holding on to anything like this after the very first tcg item was on the trading post, or twitch drop/prime gamingā€¦ why in the world would you still be saving anything like this? KEKW

I would laugh heartily, say ā€œthat sucks bro,ā€ and then hope they learned a life lesson about assigning value to goods that are, in essence, infinitely reproduceable. You paid for pixels, man. Those pixels are controlled by a single flag on someoneā€™s account. All it takes is for the owner of those pixels (not you, lol) to flip the switch from ā€œoffā€ to ā€œonā€ and suddenly the value drops.

Never put a lot of investment into something so easily devalued. Thatā€™s why NFTs are such a joke.

I love the tears of TCG elitists.

Put everything on the Trading Post, put every lost and rare item back into the game. Make 'em all earn-able. I love it when people with cross-promotional items get mad when those items are reintroduced.

The only thing I can say is lol

this reminds me of the felsteel longblade and its recipe. I think it was between MoP and WoD, this BS recipe would go to like 150k gold, and the sword would go for 70ish k gold; itā€™s a katana, it straps in the back (few 1h do) and it looked cool at the time. Transmogging dream.

Then they made transmog BoA and overnight, everyone holding a single felsteel longblade and recipe started their rush to the bottom. I think I paid like 20k for one just to unlock it.

Sorry OP. How long were you sitting on those cubs anyway? The writingā€™s been on the wall for any rare pets or mounts since they started doing the trading post/Prime gaming giveaways, those are a roll of the dice away every month now from depreciating immediately.

Soā€¦ I donā€™t get itā€¦ Did you buy with plans to resell? Or did you buy to collect? Collectors have no issue shelling out the amount they want for a shiny item TO KEEP. Aka With NO intention to resell. There is ALWAYS going to be value to a collector once they have said item in there possession no matter if itā€™s being resold, reintroduced, or given away for free. Basing the value of a collection on things like cost and how much its worth is not what collecting is about. At least this is the way with me. What something is worth is not what I base my collection off of.

As people have stated if your intention was to sell then you should have done so the moment Feldrake was offered for free.

Should have sold when they were worth something, nerd!

Yes

I donā€™t see how allowing people to get something that hasnā€™t been available for a long time is a bad thing. A reward from a long dead CCG is a perfect example of things that should be made available again.

I will say this, regardless of you at a minimum Blizzard pulling items from rare sources (TCG for instance) shows an extreme lack of imagination on their part. It is bad enough with simple color adjustments (see 80% of the collectibles in SL). Of course, I also have to wonder how many people that burhs this kind of thing off for buying the cards were also crying rivers because people could get the Cindermain Charger at he post. Personally, Iā€™m looking forward to the Love Rocket (or whatever it was changed to) being available.

The market giveth, and it taketh away. You placed a bet on the idea that holding onto those pets instead of selling them was the right choice. The same way I might bet that holding onto a particular stock will result in it increasing or retaining its value. Just as that stock can plummet in value and I can lose a lot of money or even everything so too did you gamble and choose to engage in risk.

You have had the option for years now of off-loading these things, absolving yourself of risk and taking the money. Instead you chose to use them as a hedge against inflation and their value was crashed.

I donā€™t have an ounce of pity. You were given ample warning this type of thing might happen with Blizzard starting to give away TCG mounts on Amazon, in the trading post, etc. The alarms were blaring, you chose to ignore them and hope you wouldnā€™t be impacted. You rolled the dice. You lost. Accept it and be more careful next time.

I personally have off-loaded all my TCG related items and many other removed items likely to be re-introduced. Iā€™ve taken the gold for them and re-invested it in other more stable assets whose value does not derive from artificial, externally imposed scarcity and instead derives from real in-game dynamic scarcity, difficulty, and cost (time and gold) to hedge against inflation.

Diversify your portfolio. Duh.

Donā€™t put a value on video game pixels that donā€™t matter in the end. Once the servers shut down permanently and the game is done, whenever that happens your rare pixels wonā€™t mean squat. Kinda a you problem.
