If we bring it to the mob level its more of a nuisance than anything else. Even when I am low leveled there are so many ways that these mobs do not hurt. The world scaling system barely does anything and I am rarely ever afraid. Nor does it really get me ready the dungeons or raids. It ends up being more of a nuisance that had charm during the first month and becomes a tired old chore after the 3rd. And this is ok, people can have that content. Making it harder for me to get there adds zero value to my experience though because that ends up being the biggest challenge i.e. Just getting to the mob, not even killing it.
Flying makes me enjoy the scenery again. Instead of logging in upset with the little time I have and the long laundry list of things to do and not having flying just harming my experience.
I would rather be in the dungeon or raid or farming herbs, doing professions, etc than slug my belly around the floor in an mmorpg. Flight paths are nice to have while flying is down or even during flying to get a break while going somewhere so you can take a phone call or see to something or someone.
Flying is what immerses me. I try to find the best way to get to my objective and then move on to the next one. You know WOW has this whole top sided view in the world they never use. At least half of the box we are in while doing World Quests is unfilled.
I would rather promote Blizzard filling that other half of the box with things so even if you Fly it can be dangerous. Such as adding bats, dragons, mobs in general. Making you veer through a specific path or only take certain amount of damage. Also forcing you to come prepared with gliders.
You keep going back to this, but the actual point of an rpg is to get immersed in the role. Itâs a role playing game. If everyone was just RPing as someone who only wants fun, I donât know if I could stand the game. It doesnât even sound like you care about rping.
Iâm all for ground mount questing and leveling. However, we are talking about a video game here. At some point I would like to fly and the time gated grind on Pathfinder isnât fun.
Blizzard has spoken though. They are keeping Pathfinder, so at least I CAN fly. The grind however is something I will do differently next xpac. Iâll probably finish Pathfinder 1 and then cancel my sub until Pathfinder 2.
I think that there ought to be different servers for different play styles. Have servers where there is no flight allowed at all, others where you get flight for free at max level. Everybody wins. Of course, the devs would never go for this solution. They donât want anybody flying for as long as possible.
Who said WOW was unplayable? Classic is doing fine but that does not discredit what people in retail like about retail. Classic players have also admitted to liking alot of the retail features.
Classic has its popularity but so do other expansions. I found it amusing that during the Q&A the following exchange occurred: Q: Will there be Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King server options? A: They can do it, and are not opposed, but want to make sure they do the right thing.

If you saw the clip the crowd was cheering for Ion to skip the Burning Crusade and go straight into the Wrath of the Lich King. He was surprised and thatâs what made him say we have to do the right thing. Why do you think people wanted to do that?
Well the Wrath of the Lich King has Flying unlocked pretty much immediately.
If weâre going to base game design off of preventing people from benefitting off of othersâ work, Blizzard should start by removing LFR, not flying.
Flying is not an issue, the issue is the zones are designed around ground mounts and once flying is introduced it is all made irrelevant. Why not make the skies dangerous, actually design flight into the levels themselves. Make it so at times it is beneficial to be on a ground mount because the air is so dangerous you can not fly without being blasted off your mount.
More hazardous travel would be fine IF Blizzard removed all teleport-to-instance features from the game.
Itâs dumb to penalize poeple who do the dungeons and raids on regular modes (because they have to hoof it out there) but give LFD/LFR a free pass with a magic teleport to where they want to go.
Just admit, that what you really want, is easy mode.
Because thats all flying is. Its easy mode. You dont want to put any effort into anything, even the ability to fly. Might as well add a title menu with an options to select your difficulty before you log in.
Id respect you more if you had the courage to admit the truth.
That is yet to be determined. Prior to having flight with disadvantages at times it is impossible to determine how many pro flight want it for easy mode or just because flying is more fun to them.
The whole point of video games are to have fun. Iâve never participated in RP because I donât find it fun. Flying to me is fun. Itâs a lot more fun than doing the same content on the ground for a year. Being on the ground doing the same content is tedious. Flying eliminates the tedium and is more fun.
Well youâre playing a role playing game. If you donât like it, donât play it. You donât get to be a tack-on player that doesnât even appreciate the genre of the game youâre playing for what it is, and also dictate the direction of the gameâs design. Youâre not even a real fan in my eyes. Just someone looking for a sweet escape.
