Except it’s not available after meeting requirements, we’re forced to wait until Blizzard releases the 2nd part. Do that and then fly.
We should be able to fly after meeting the requirements of part 1 and part 2 being a separate achievement to unlock flying in the new zones.
I would like the gold sink to come back though because at least I could play the game how I want to earn said gold instead of having to grind boring World Quest.
How about instant gathering? That’s the degree of efficiency flying enables. And also, none of the fractured herbs. Just full herbs every time you gather no matter what.
If you guys want flying for free, I want perks to staying on the ground. It’s only fair right? If you get your fun without work, I should be rewarded for wanting to play the game the way blizzard wants me to. Much more effective gathering professions, 30% xp boost from quests, always rested because you’re never hanging onto a gryphon.
edit: 20% increased ground speed for every class without equipment so we can all use waterwalking on fast ground mounts too. There are a lot of perks they’d have to give us for me to feel that it is “fair enough” for people to be able to opt into flying for gold.
To be fair, I specifically went with this class for the mobility because I was using it to grind vulpera rep, and didn’t want to waste my time unlocking pathfinder for BFA. Without flying, the extra mobility really helps you get around.
Also, DH would be a lot more interesting if everyone couldn’t just fly. not even a big fan of dh currently, tbh.
Forums have very little impact on Dev’s decisions I am sure of that.
Data for decision making comes from a lot of places.
I used to think the reason DK’s were so cool is that one of the Dev’s might be influenced by their son who liked DK’s and why they are designed the way they are.
The net-o-matic needs a faster cast time and a longer range. Make it an AOE too so it can dismount groups of players. I’m fine with flying in warmode being made more dangerous.
I can’t wrap my head around the viewpoint of:
I don’t like flying but if it’s available I’ll use it. It’s a contradiction. It comes off as very selfish “I can’t enjoy this unless everyone plays my way”.
If you cant fly in an mmorpg game that is very fantasy based whats the point of playing an mmorpg? For me the appeal of walking ends after a month. I only have so much time to get things done each day. I take certain time off to play a new expansion to get ready for raiding and dungeon runs. Then I to go back to the regularly scheduled programming.
The fantasy element that remains for me is the harder content. If I have to do world quests (which most likely I do) I end up turning off warmode and flying there to get them done. You see I think the big difference here is that you want to world pvp. For world PVP I can see the benefits of having no flying.
The current method of the compromise is the problem and I wonder if its even trying to solve the right problem.
For example I wonder if the World PVP crowd are the ones advocating for this.
Solutions can include:
-Make most areas in Shadowlands available to fly at launch but keep the maw as the end game pvp heavy area where no flying is allowed.
-A World PVP ground mount only expansion wide server
-A checkbox to play Warmode with the bonuses for riding a ground mount (the server tries to shard you to a ground mount server.
I need more info but right now I am seeing a trend with PVP’ers specific goals impacting the whole game. They have a voice to be heard but I wonder what others say as well. Is this the main reason why some people do not want flying…for their World PVP experience?
That’s what flight paths are for. You don’t have to walk every and each time. With flying however you get to skip over mountains, skip entire mob camps and get to final mob, so on so on. Flying should be only flight paths to let you move faster between spots on the map, or like waygates in gw2 which are instant.
