But they would lose money in the long run, from tarnishing and going back on what once was exclusive.
Like they did recently with adding the MoP collector editions mount and pet to the shop. People won’t buy exclusive things, if the company has a track record of just re-adding said things years down the line.
Players will just shrug off any thing that is marketed as exclusive, from then onward.
I want them to add recolors of the mage tower appearances. Because most of the arguments for the mage tower thing want the models. They don’t care if their werebear is grey, purple, blue, or pink. They just want that form.
What? Blizzard is already bleeding subscribers. Most of the folks who did the mage tower thing in legion are currently in FFXIV or some other MMO. They’re making their money through their in-game purchases.
As someone who did mage tower on 36 specs, I’m okay with allowing mage tower scenarios to come back as long as they also allow us to acquire the MoP CM sets too.
I don’t disagree with you, but if they “fix” their act and subscribers come back. They wouldn’t want to tarnish that idea of exclusivity for future things.
I would much prefer they make new content than waste time remaking content for people who weren’t even paying them in legion.
And the argument isn’t exclusivity either for my part because I never bothered with any, it is just a waste to spend money remaking content for that group of people.
Games should never remove items. It’s like the borrowed power system that folks dislike so much. If you’re in-favor of them removing items, you may as well be in-favor of them using borrowed power you’re going to throw away next expansion.
The old PVP titles were removed in 2.0? The rank of Grand Marshal or High Warlord were for rank 14 back in the old PVP system in vanilla after the burning crusade pre-patch. You could not get those titles. Now you can with RBGs.
that wasn’t what I was asking for a source for - this is what I responded to
and a title is easy - remaking that mage tower so that it is fair for all classes/specs is no easy thing and then people would complain about the currency - ‘i don’t want to farm old content’, etc.
As for the source, there are various websites that try and “track” subscription numbers from Blizzard which aren’t accurate. However warcraft logs recently showed that FFXIV did overtake them for raid logs? World of Warcraft right now is making large amounts of money from their in-game purchases, they even claim as such in their most recently quarterly report.
However, with regards to your statement:
The grand marshal/ high warlard title in vanilla required immense work. It took people months of playing 12+ hours a day with no breaks in order to achieve that title. The same thing happened in Classic.
There are boosting discords that will give me that title for 10,000,000 gold or… $1200 about.
So blizzard added back an exclusive title that took folks months of work and now I can just go buy it with WoW tokens.
