Unless they recently moved away from the loot lockout idea for m+ end run loot that they were discussing in sept*, that won’t be a problem.
And WoD had pretty crappy honor gear from the start because it was actually the ilvl of normal dungeons and heroics dungeons when boosted making mythic dungeon (With mythic dungeon being introduced in Wod) being higher than even boosted ilvl from the start.
However, this wasn’t a problem because in this instance pve gear was reduced in ilvl below conquest activated and that little function wasn’t added until late development.
It wasn’t until S2 when last seasons conquest was just shifted into honor.
So I am not going to condemn them on this until launch, if it launches in with a crap fest guess Im not getting the xpac.
And thus the same problem pvp gear caused for raiding in bc when first introduced and most of WoD too, leading to the removal of vendors so it doesn’t affect the pvers.
Like I said dont fall for the trap of trying to upgrade everything to max from the start, you will just waste your time and currency.
*[last time I was able to troll through developers notes, Q4 is my companies busiest season so had to focus on that, which sucks because looking like I wont be getting much chance at playing again until roughly about January, like I am working right now, even though I put in an 8-6 this morning.
So forgive me if my info is dated.]
I’ve never read anything about dungeon lockouts for M+, just a reduction in overall gear dropping from them at end of run. The only lockouts I’m aware of are the baseline M0 runs, just like they have had since heroic dungeons in TBC.
Didn’t honor gear in WoD also upscale in PvP instances though? I know it still had PvP stats so you wanted it over normal/heroic/Mythic dungeons regardless, but the ilvl was substantially better when you went into a PvP instance with the up scaling.
Solution:
Calculate the average amount of time it would take a PvE player to achieve ilvl 197.
Retune honor rewards so that the average PvPer reaches ilvl 197 at approximately the same time as a PvEer.
It honestly seems really simple to me. Just make it so either aspects of the game aren’t outclassing each other so quickly and it’ll be fine lol.
Sorry like I said working right so didn’t really proofread, so the quote there is fixed so it’s not so wall texty and fixed a bit of wording.
It was something Ion was discussing back in early sept, but they said they didn’t have the idea far enough along to show anything for it. So they may changed their minds they have before.
what if… and hear me out here… rank 7 upgrade was equal to mythic 15 gear and not mythic 6… 7 weeks seems more reasonable to get to that ilvl over mythic 6 which people will have in a matter of 2-3 days just doing pve
Each player needs 15-16 pieces of gear depending on dw or 2h, that comes out to be 75-80 pieces per grp.
Now only 1 piece of gear drops from end run chest.
Let’s say you can clear a dungeon inside of 20 minutes using a grp of all 2H and yall get perfect rng, that’s still 25 hours of nothing but clearing the dungeons.
Not including travel time between dungeons or time for the breaks your body physically needs.
This is assuming fill premade grp of frienfs too, not the joys of pugging
Do I really need to break it down further?
Because maybe you were being hyperbolic maybe you weren’t, but there are clearly people who believe this sentiment to be true.
So if you don’t then not really targeted at you, but there are plenty of people I seen that don’t know how to out in all the factors
Let me know I might be able to do the full math and show the real time sink it will require to fully gear with a full set from m+ before I pass out
your not taking into account raiding, theres also no limit to how many mythic + u can do a week as long as u keep finding keys for dungeons u need loot from
The group will only get loot at the end of the instance. 3 pieces of loot if you complete it in time, 2 pieces if you don’t, and additional pieces if you beat the timer by a longer margin, to be distributed between the party members.
You can run the same keystone at the same difficulty as many times as you want during the week, and you will still get loot as a group.
Not trying to, but rng and lack of bonus rolls that one will also slow down as well. Because in the personal loot world a 20 does what 4-5 pieces per boss?
Wanna guess how many trinkets I got before getting my first ra den fist? Or how many more I got after that until I just gave up on the end one?
Um so what you are saying is I do need to actually do the full math on how there is not enough time in the week to be getting anywhere near a full set from m+, hell not even raid unless you get a guild group that funnels.
Like are you not grasping time is limited? Say you only need to do half the gear requirements, that’s still 12.5 hours of straight dungeon crawl bare minimum with perfect rng
Perfect
Rng.
How about a wow head article with source of shadowlands development notes and not a 8 month old reddit post that is clearly not talking about shadowlands and is instead talking about how legion and bfa worked.
Found it
So the exact quantities are still evolving (please don’t quote me 100% on this) but notably for Mythic+ it will be one item from the end-of-run chest that is repeatable
i dont think you understand the actual physical limitations in spacetime here.
It has zero to do with the desire to do something as unhealthy as playing a video game that much in a week, but the fact that there is just not enough hours in a week to pull it off.
look u get 2 pieces of random loot per run if u dont make time 3 if u do, we’re only shooting for m+6 ilvl here as thats where pvp gear will cap out at 7 weeks into the first pvp season. there is nothing stopping u from getting a few random pieces of +10 or higher in that week which with raise your average ilvl above m+6 alot faster than just spamming 6’s, u also get a guaranteed piece of loot at beginning of the next week. i promise you that more than half the pvp community will be above mythic+6 average ilvl by end of the first week that m+ is available. its been this way every season that we have had M+
ok so 1 piece per run then. the guarenteed piece of loot from pvp will be irrelevant, its not the gear its the ilvl of it its going to take 7 whole weeks to cap out at mythic 6 ilvl and it will never go past that currently and on top of that its what like an 80 hour bg grind assuming a 50% win/loss just to get the honor to upgrade it
And the ilvl for the conquest piece offered is based off your rating. It’s not a un-upgraded piece, meaning you get conquest for the week from your cap, but you also get from your chest tuesday just like bfa.
I seen people comment getting a ton of honor even for a loss
well just so u know, for cms u farmed a full set of bis stat low ilvl gear as it was better than just wearing whatever or even the current raid tier gear
