Places like Gen Disc and all the various WoW related fansites rate Legion as one of the best expansions the game’s ever had, largely because of the free character progression it gave.
Legion was a garbage expansion because class design was trash and classes felt horrible to play, but it gave them “progression” for doing no difficult content, which gave em the feel goods in their brain.
It’s not going away, lol.
This game would literally drop ridiculous amounts of subs if they stopped treadmilling people.
I’m sure they know their player base better than I do
I just can’t help but look at the popularity of m+ where people continually push for no reward and wonder why they don’t capitalize on something like the competitiveness of raider io
How many people do this?
How many do a weekly 15?
How many don’t do either?
And how many would they stand to gain, versus how many they’d lose, if they moved away from a treadmill system?
It’s a major factor in why GW2 struggled to keep WoW players, and still struggles to this very day with getting people into endgame content.
They did, it’s called the MDI.
A relatively small percentage of players do competitive or endgame content solely for the challenge/bragging rights. Most people play for loot and bigger numbers, unfortunately.
No as someone who remember playing on dead Battlegroups and ques taking forever, I rather not limit the pool of potential participants, because all you do is discourage someone coming to explore.
“Gear is Gear” is more than possible and I rather strive for that honestly, as long as they can actually make the actual “5%” gap they keep going on about.
Hell recall challenge modes? Your gear lvl was pushed down and I think set bonuses disabled? So it was purely who could clear the fastest and even gave titles out for the groups who had top clear time.
Hell look at proving grounds endless waves, basically the same concept as well
They just need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel. The way to fix this problem was created by them already 6 years ago in WoD.
Blue honor comes from bgs, conquest comes from conquest and you can earn conquest EASILY from any PvP including losing skirmishers/bgs/wpvp/arenas/world quests, and no, don’t make conquest from bgs/skirmish/wpvp insanely low like it is in BFA. No rating requirements on any gear.
Now, you make the ilvls work this way:
Honor: 183 in PvE - > scales to 210 in PvP
Conquest: 200 in PvE - > scales to 220 in PvP
PvE gear above 220 - > scales down to 220 in PvP
So how about we deal with the reality and actually try to work with ultimately the owners of the game.
Like the way so many of you talk on here makes me really wonder if this is how you act and talk in real life.
Its a video game yall need to stop taking it so personally when you aren’t getting your way and need to stop lashing out at people who don’t continue the echo chamber and offer a differing opinion.
This is blizzard’s game and they get to decide how it works, we can nudge and suggest, but ultimately they will always do what they want.
That has been proven time and time again all the way from vanilla.
If you don’t like it then you have 2 choices try to be flexible and work in the confines of their wants or quit. That’s it, that’s all you get.
If you try to just directly oppose them and not be flexible then you will only frustrate yourself and stress yourself out over something that is a phase in your life.
Because trust me World if Warcraft won’t be around forever, I guarantee it will have died [naturallly] long before my 50 birthday and end up under abandonware eventually.
In the same field stand both a mighty oak tree and a willow tree. The willow tree envies the power and strength that the oak tree possesses. One day a storm, with whipping winds and torrential rain, makes its way through the field. After the storm passes, the willow tree notices that the oak tree has fallen over in the storm. In a state of confusion, she asks the farmer what happened to the oak tree. The farmer tells the willow tree that although the oak was mighty and solid, it was also rigid and inflexible and when the winds were too much for it to resist, the oak tree collapsed under the pressure. The willow thought about herself for a minute. She realized that her ability to survive the storm was due to her flexibility and adaptability as she was able to bend with the wind to weather the storm.
Be like the willow, be flexible. Don’t resist so much that you are torn apart [ie don’t keep stressing out about it]
Ah deja vu the exact arguments I was hearing from the majority of the forums about wod gear and how they said it would never work.
Until they released the info about trinkets having reduced effects and non pvp gear having reduced ilvl in instance pvp.
Way to be a crappy human being, a few of you in here who call Ion autistic and every other thing over a freaking video game, I imagine when you can’t be held accountable do crap like this
I would not call Ion autistic and don’t appreciate being lumped into a fabricated group of people that do. People who want PVP to have parity with the easy of PVE gearing are not “freaking out over a video game”, the framework for an enjoyable track to develop your character through PVP already exists, and was used before with great success.
Essentially caving in, telling people to suck it up and slay dragons for BiS PVP gear is abhorrent to me. The amount of hoops people have to jump through just to get honor gear leveled up his hilarious compared to just spamming M+ runs.
For the record I think crunch culture is awful and think Blizzard rank and file developers should get paid more and less money should be going to line Kotick’s pockets and towards bonuses for senior leadership. Degrading developers is not the way you accomplish change in a game you are passionate about.
I could literally take about an hour and start combing over the forums and starting picking out the massive amount of tears I seen plenty shed.
However with that said this statement alone tells me you haven’t even bothered to pay attention to the actual development notes.
With the loss of bonus rolls and the utter gutting of m+ loot, pve gear has slowed right down, all while pvp has only sped up with a quantifiable goal in the form of conquest and honor vendors.
Not having to worry about rng drops anymore is huge, but we still get loot from the chest which saves chunks of conquest currency for you to put towards another piece.
Edit:
Dude there is this fancy thing you can do called word search for the forums, go through type in autistic and it’s various common misspellings.
It’s like one of the most popular insults on the forums and I was going to try and pull the comment that I was quoting when I said it, but ultimately didn’t care past a minute reading through the toxicity of the human experience, I already get to do that for the govt.
Expansion releases Nov 23rd in NA, on Dec 8 the new raid / S1 pvp goes live. This is 16 days apart (2 weeks + some change)
You cannot finish honor gear until 7 weeks after release - literally base starter gear - the raid / M+ / PvP S1 will have already been active for 5 weeks
This means that by the time you can even finish honor gear, it will be completely irrelevant and you will be drastically behind players doing other content. At that point… you might as well ignore honor gear entirely and just wait to farm M+ / weekly arena cap.
When you are running dungeons, which are never quick in the start of an xpac as everyone is getting comfortable with routes and strats, and after it’s done only 1 piece drops then y’all going to feel like yall are wasting time because the length of the average dungeon que could have been a bg and a half all while working towards a quantifiable goal and doing something I like.
I honestly haven’t bothered to look at the honor requirements for each upgrade because pushing for full upgrade for each piece is a waste of efficiency.
If instead you bought every piece, base not fully upgrade, and upgrade each individual piece at the same time you ultimately use your currency more efficiently, that way you don’t run into the problem of your weekly chest giving you only items that are obviously going to be offered are the exact items you upgraded first.
I mean your conquest cap has always been more important than honor.
The 3 expansions with “gear is gear” are Vanilla, Legion and BfA. Also widely regarded as the 3 worst expansions for PVP gearing. With the most recent, being the absolute worst the game has ever seen.
SL resembles BFA more than any other expansion. So, with how it is shaping up, SL might be good enough to be the second worst PVP gearing system in WoW’s history.
Pretty sure we still get 1 piece + 1 for timing the key within a threshold, at least that’s what I’ve read. But you’re looking at +6 dungeons averaging 30-60 minutes from group formation, getting to location, and doing the clear. Guaranteed drops as well, just might take a few runs to get the exact piece you want, but you also get to choose another piece from your weekly cache that’s 210 ilvl.
Of course it is, but at the same time the last time we had honor gear was WoD. I was able to casually finish an entire alt from getting fresh max level, to full honor gear in a weekend in Ashran. Maybe 12 hours total for the whole set, that pales in comparison to what they want us to do now, and it wasn’t time gated.
