Thank you; that was an RP outfit, and also a challenge to my own glorious self.
I’m going to wear that leather outfit and see how far it will take me.
Quests, solo instances; let this be a teat of my fighting skills, as i have felt that, for too long, we have all been obsessed with gear.
i’ll make certain to switch to it, for to make a better presence.
Thank you again for kind words.
Skäl.
Whether you are a horde or alliance player is immaterial you wish to deny choice and the specific thread we had that exchange in was literally named high elf love thread yet antis came in with their usual bashing.
Yeah I always found it weird that we let horde do that to get mag’har but we couldn’t go to azeroth to get more high elves. The main falling out the high elves and alliance had was mostly because of orcs and those wars, without that, it’s just amani trolls and they can keep them at bay. so, I’d imagine, for the most part, they should be on good terms. Especially all the kirin tor elves and the ones allied with the alliance. Heck, I’d bet those alone would have a higher population than blood elves of today.
Much like I can’t take those seriously who are vehemently against playable alliance high elves for ostensibly lore reasons yet jumped for joy when lore inaccurate blue eyes looked to be being added to blood elves. Thus revealing they simply wanted to deny choice from the other side and didn’t give a fig for lore.
They are all connected to the Sunwell, but trying to feed a few hundred is different than trying to feed ten-thousand. I don’t think they thought what they were doing wasn’t ghoulish, it was the best option. Alliance high elves were happy to judge and not be part of the solution.
That may have more to do with when things were updated and style. Look at Darkspear troll eyes then look at Zandalari troll eyes. Further, being on Outland was cited as one of the reasons Blood Elves got green eyes, plenty of Alliance high elves were on Outland too. It’s just there to make the distinction and we might all be reading into eyes too much.
Actually before then it was lore friendly. The only commentary we had on the subject until that time was that Blood Elf eyes would eventually fade to blue. Ion’s comments were a retcon.
Not really what we were told is that they were overriden by the presence of fel which was then cleansed by the mass infusion of holy energy into the sunwell. It was far more likely for them to stay gold outside of those who actively had new sources of fel like DHs and tbh locks shouldn’t be gold eyed just saying.
They are quite high and mighty with themselves. I guess they just believe that messing with too much arcane was dumb in the first place, got greedy, and they should figure it out themselves.
This of course, is just trying to apply actual logic to something that barely makes any sense because the writers just wanted illidan to have a force, with the naga, to fight others and not get killed by kil’jaeden.
I’m not sure about that one because even new ones, like vereesa don’t have glowing eyes and ones in other area’s like the void elf starting zone and such. They are just simply blue.
It’s true the consistency is pretty much all over, I just assumed maybe it was due to them being closer/more exposed longer. Sure they are all connected to the sunwell if they drew from it once, but they didn’t need to constantly feed on it to grow stronger and their dependencies on arcane magic.
I always figured humans mostly got to ignore this genetic flaw since of the curse of flesh and what they once were? Not like they are immune to the temptations, just resistant to a degree? I don’t know, the logic of it all doesn’t make sense.
One thing I’ve always kind’ve brainstormed since legion was… What if they are waiting to use the high elves for alliance for a later expansion where Vareesa is a Arcane Elf? On the chart, the bottom of it is Arcane/law (for the titans, but maybe could give Vareesa power? maybe feels powerless compared to her sisters? kinda goes against what the alliance high elves were about though, could be an “accident” OOOoooOO) , Void/shadow (for alleria) , and death (for slyvanas) It just sorta fit to me and they are the 3 sisters. however, maybe khadgar is just supposed to fill that arcane role when he returns reading books.
I just think the easiest solution is add new skin tones to them that aren’t smurf, more normalized, add new hair colors, black and pure white as well, call it a day. Add in some story for it since there were high elves and silvermoon elves wanting to learn void magic in the starting zone. EZ. sure it wouldn’t be the silver covenant people have wanted, but that can come later if they REALLLYYY feel like they have a place for them in the story. As a trump card for people to roll alliance.
Recently yes, originally the only commentary was that the green would fade - long before golden eyes were a thing. If I recall, there is some conflicting information on Golden Eyes - weather it is something all high elves should be experiencing or only those most devoted to the light.
That’s what happens when you’ve got almost 30 years worth of lore all jumbled around by different writers and lead that retcon each other. I pretty much mostly only take what’s in the Chronicles as confirmed and more “absolute” canon going further.
Another issue is a lot of things are left vague intentionally so that people can tell their own story, the problem is that fandom wants solid rules and cannon.
Yeah, it doesn’t quite work when people want to stick to their own rules or what they’ve heard or read once only to be retconned.
It makes me wonder if the whole eye color thing would only fade if they are no longer near or exposed to the sunwell anymore and slowly wing themselves off of all external forms of mana and that the whole “always connected to the sunwell” is not much of a thing anymore unless it’s power somehow transcends time (WoD, they didn’t really suffer withdrawals but I guess that’s due to maybe they weren’t gone for long) and a completely alternate realm, Shadowlands.
Sure, we got some “proof” that often counters some things here and there, but as we’ve both stated, consistency is not their strong point. So that tie to the sunwell, if they haven’t taken a dip in it, may not be there. At least, In a way that people assume.
Could be retconned to be more metaphorical that they desire the arcane magic, so they will always want to come back to it for it’s power. That the connection is the desire for such mana so they don’t have withdrawals and can be supplied on the mana from the sunwell for a longer duration of time before needing it again. Who knows at this point.
