guess this means i belong on horde. whoda thunk it.
That certainly is a big one. Maybe they’re a little concerned about the health of their game.
Yeah, well people keep spamming the same arguments. If I tell someone fire is hot - and they later say its cold, I’m going to tell them it is hot again.
As stated before pasting, I was not the author of the given texts. Though the majority of it would be correct there may be some (Very few) mild inconsistencies or mistaken statements within.
I personally actually do believe there may be another neutral race (Hopefully done better than the Pandaren with continuinity beyond the introduction expansion), but I do not believe it would be ‘High Elves’.
In relation to High Elves subject (Not so much the neutral race idea), with the borderline of ‘High Elves’ as an Allied race not happening + evidence Ion Hazzikostas has stated in a Q&A:
"…That said, obviously I understand you would love Alliance elves… You’re an Alliance player, and want to be a fair-skinned, light-haired, blue-eyed elf. Sorry – The Horde is there and waiting for you. Eye color is not quite the same but maybe contact lenses in the future, you never know? Anything is possible in the future, but no plans in the near-term to add High Elves as an Allied Race."
Well its the only thing that is close to High Elves so why not Half Elves. I would love to atleast see them be added as a Allied Race or Customization Options to Humans.
Yeah, fuel of ignorance from Ion himself.
People want to play a High Elf, not because they are “Fair Skinned, Light Haired, Blue Eyed Elf”, but because of the lore of them within the Alliance, and them being part of the Alliance story.
If you want the superior elves we are waiting for you on the horde.
Honestly, people calling Blood Elves superior is subjective as people have different opinions about which Elf is superior.
And considering Void Elves are also Blood Elves, no, the Horde is not the only one with Blood Elves.
most horde races tower over belfs. with the inclusion of goblins and vulpera, thats somewhat better, but my goodness. you guys are tall. taurens are so big, they cant fit in some doors. zandalari and high mountain have been added to the list of giant people. if i remember correctly, the tallest race on alliance are night elves.
I disagree, but before I do so I wanna take a moment to say I really respect your views as an anti on the topic of Alliance High Elves and have really come to enjoy conversation with you on the topic.
For me I prefer Blood Elves, even Void Elves but I’ve come to the conclusion I like Void Elves because of Blood Elves thus Blood Elves get my number 1 spot. Semi irrelevant but I feel worth mentioning.
I enjoy the idea of being a BE in story and thwarting Alliance High Elves, or seeing through story the High Elf perspective. I generally see Blood Elf fans extremely loyal I don’t think it would be an exodus of BE players, but Alliance players who want them/some BE players who have always held on to the hopes of playing a High Elf. This may be where blue eyes BEs come in, blood elves are high elves, but giving them the Blue eyed option may be Blizzard imo making sure the faction will stay loyal even if they add High Elves in game (which I hope they do).
But overall from my perspective I think it enriches faction rivalry. I will say I vehemently am opposed to High Elves claiming Quel’thalas I had many discussions with several pros some who have advocated for QT, some have argued to TAKE the BE race and make it “Thalassian” in a neutral character screen like the Pandaren and then going from there (effectively stealing imo) and making the empty half of Silvermoon a Alliance High Elf hub with QT neutral, I was actually called awful names because I feel Alliance affiliated High Elves have no claim to Quel’thalas despite advocating for Alliance High Elves. But if anything I forgive the sentiment and think it does or would add to faction rivalry. But there has to be a way to play up the rivalry without linking Alliance affiliated High Elves to Quel’thalas / Blood Elves. In other words we have to see them moved on.
So while we disagree, I hope you know that my support of Alliance High Elves in my mind adds nuance to Blood Elves and contributes to the faction rivalry imo, while also giving some the fantasy they want, and in that regard I’m generally always for more options / races / etc.
Edit : for clarity I also want to add I do agree Blood Elves are High Elves, but not the Alliance affiliated HEs asked for. But I think you know that’s what I mean since I use the term Alliance High Elves mostly, and Blood Elves while being the successors of the legacy go by Blood Elves in name.
Well you’re wrong.
That would defeat the purpose of playable Alliance High Elves. The whole point of High Elves is that they abandoned their homeland and the rest of their people, and instead stayed with the Alliance.
I’m also for the addition of playable Alliance High Elves, but the suggestion of “taking” QT for the Alliance is ridiculous. If you want Quel’Thalas, the Horde is there waiting for you.
We’ll never listen to that.
Already did, we got void elves!
Oh, you’re practicing for when we trade you for Vulpera already? Nice
I won’t let you take my vulpera boy away. He’s mine!
Oh no I definitely agree. I think the point of contention was the fact the High Elf POV / fans don’t view the High Elves as having abandoned Quel’thalas, citing their exile. But the BE POV imo does view them as abandoning their homeland for what they view as their morals/friends so that is the choice imo and what makes them interesting and the line in the sand.
Where it went south is when despite me validating and respecting the HE POV would view them in the right, my pro BE POV was actually depicted as xenophobic and I felt a bit a personally attacked which is weird coming from Pro HEs supporters who get accused of only wanting HEs for the pale elf look on alliance you’d think people would be more careful then to not arbitrarily come up with those kinds of arguments. Which by the way I did take full offense to.
But what I took away from it was that despite me wanting HEs, despite them wanting HEs, despite me having a BE POV, only mine was invalidated and mud slung at which is sad to me. But also worrisome in the realm when they then go on to say the Alliance HEs still have rights to Quel’thalas which I would say they do but if that’s your argument they would be integrating into Blood Elf society… not some fantasy where BE society now becomes neutral and they split Silvermoon.
But all in all I think the two perspectives despite me personally respecting both, not everyone does and that’s fine. But I think both perspectives showcase adding to faction rivalry. That’s just my two cents from something that otherwise would have bothered me.
I mean both POVs are technically correct - those who were exiled didn’t want to abandon their homeland and their people, and then there are also those who did choose not to come back, and both groups of elves are considered High Elves. I reckon though that the majority of Alliance High Elves belong to the latter and not the former.
Imagine still crying over high elves years after being told no
Yeah that was my take and position in the discussion I had too. But people were more upset at my BE views on the issue, then they were with the mudslinging and insinuations, which I just found ludicrous that people would have more of an issue with a Pro BE POV despite supporting HEs but take no issue in personal attacks and painting a narrative that is rather offensive. shrugs
Still doesn’t change the fact that both perspectives are imo VALID. And makes them interesting, I still stand by Alliance HEs have no right to Quel’thalas in any of the more fanciful ideas of splitting it or turning the BEs neutral somehow.
Where and when did this happen?
