While I might not use the term ‘brave’, it certainly was the ‘interesting’ thing to do.
What would also be interesting is to steer the plot such that the Night Elves, who are justly unhappy with the Alliance ‘peace’ with the Horde, end up massacring the Silver Covenant. It wouldn’t be intentionally vicious, just one of those situations that got out of control.
Because it was a ‘Gray’ rather than ‘Evil’ incident, Anduin refuses to punish the Night Elves.
Refused the justice they demand, the few surviving Silver Covenant Elves return to Quel’thalas and swear fealty to the Regent Lord.
This would unambiguously leave Void Elves as the playable High Elf race for the Alliance.
I say brave because beautiful elves are usually considered good. Monsters like orcs, zombies and minotaur are usually considered bad. Horde isn’t evil but it plays up the convention. BC was a subversion of “beautiful=good.”
Horde got the conventionally attractive elves. Alliance got the demonic draenaei. They are both sides of that same coin.
and how they sold it to us was to say the blood elves had lost their souls and were bitter. and the draenei were happy good little goats. and then, they made the blood elves good, and turned the draenei into mass murderers. the game is scary and disturbing in a way that isnt healthy
Only source I could find where someone in Blizzard claims in something of reference of regreting nuetral for a race is this from Ghostcawler, and this is based on his own wording, not Blizzards.
If anyone can provide a real official source to where Blizzard said they are against a nuetral race because of Pandaren, then please, link it.
Well, I still think that the belves and the dranaei as a whole aren’t ever going to be completely good or completely bad. They were playing with tropes and misconceptions and got the point across during the run of BC.
They still want us to believe in redemption, and I think that consistently rings true. I do like that the blood elves got redemption (and I’m really excited about Kael coming back). And I don’t think yrel’s contingency and profit Velen’s people are going to see eye to eye-- if they ever happen to meet, considering yrel still lives in an alternate time dimension.
theres no sparkly naaru in the wizard’s bag to make the void elves free of void corruption. we’re stuck being dangerously close to insanity. what a pleasant high elf option for the lady folk to ascribe to. as if being a lady in real life didnt have its close to insanity moments already, which we deplore, we get the thrill of playing one in wow because that is the only option that doesnt have hands the size of dinner plates.
I’d say give it time-- they will probably add lore to expand the void elf fantasy. Probably empowering things like bucking dogma to persue forbidden truth.
i’d just like a sane, lady like, normal elf on wow. she doesnt have to be she-ra or capable of strangling an orc with her bare hands or thunder thighs. this option doesnt exist on the alliance. its like the devs are saying, ya gotta be a looney tune or a female wrestler to play alliance.
why why why did they do that to the alliance? they put all the best people on the horde, the best fantasy elf races on the horde, and ditched the alliance with elves who could lose their minds completely at any moment. its not even interesting. there’s no lore. no build up. nothing. its like a trap that makes you hate the game till you see a void elf male which frankly is the only thing good about void elves.
