They did not feed on fel. They were around fel. That caused the change.
Blue eyed elf will have their eyes turn green if they continue to live in silvermoon.

The Sunwell powers Quel’thalas now. They only turned to fel crystals sometime between Kael going to Outland and the end of BC.

There is only one species of elves. But all seperated into groups:
Blood Elves, High Elves, Highborne (Upper Class of Night Elves), Nightborne, Void Elves and Night Elves.

The art team isn’t the same people who make the game more playable though, so the one doesn’t have much to do with the other.
