Not really. They were a nocturnal species before that. As for how it relates, it’s fairly simple.
If “Magic + elf” = “elven race”, then you can literally stamp any elf race out of the ground by giving them a new magical source. This means that racial expression in elves is a matter of -choice- and that kind of moves it out of the lore bracket more into the gameplay/char selection bracket for me. Primarily because any elf could change into any other type of elf in a few years with the right exposure to magic.
I’m not fit enough on trolls to say either way.
I also play Pokemon on my PC and my cellphone. I dunno why you think it’s a console exclusive.
