Jonãs and Friends

Pharazon, I am so sorry you had a rough patch during the funeral, but thanks for checking in. If you ever need a friendly note with some love inside, I’m your guy. I keep check on this thread and will answer here as well.

Glad you managed to salvage your weekend and hope you’re looking forward to this one, my friend! You have the right attitude and when I read your notes, some of that rubs off on me as well, so keeping you happy makes me happy - a great trade and a “win-win”.:+1:🩷

I think we can use this thread to communicate with each other, so I would like to keep it open for that use, if possible, without breaking any rules.

So…I will wish all of you a pleasant, stress-free weekend and a fun game. As always, if you see me and “Ol’ Jonãs” out and about anywhere, speak up and say “Hey!” We don’t stay so busy we can’t stop and chat for a bit. TTFN!🩷

Hey, all!

Finished my first week with my poetry class, and I -think- I have somewhere in the vicinity of 20ish poems done so far. Been a bit exhausting, but all in all–not too bad. Still losing weight with Noom; so, all is good on that front.

And this week we have two Between the Buried and Me concerts along with a gourmet feast on Wednesday at one of our favorite restaurants (Detention).

Cer and I have been playing a lot of 7th Citadel in real life, which is why we haven’t been around in game as much.

And it’s almost midnight here, and I’m exhausted; so, I’ll bid y’all a good night and hope you have a good week ahead.

Much love to all of you.

Still here… I try to jump in where I can, but there aren’t that many places I can leave an opinion or post somewhere that’s a good alternative to The Lounge.

I miss my friends, and if that’s you, then you are missed. Ja, I have a lot to keep me occupied. I have around 50 plus 90 minute cassettes that I am using audacity on, thanks to my friend Channyn for helping me set that up. I do that late at night since I have to let audacity record and can’t move away from it.

Jonãs and Allison send their love, as does their daughter Aerielle and her pet dragon Stinger.

Back in Azeroth, Jonãs and I are thinking of opening our own bank calling it Them Yo-Yos. Our motto is “Money For Nothing, Checks For Free”. Once we get a building permit from Blizz, we hope you’ll stop by for some cash.:grin:

If you’re checking into this thread for the first time, then you’re automatically a friend I haven’t met yet, so feel free to say “Hey!” and leave your name. I think some of y’all know I’m a transplanted German living near Atlanta, Georgia. I’m an “Oldie (at 74,) but a Goodie”, so it would be just a dag-gum HONOR if you’d be my friend.:+1::wink:

To all my “Lounger” friends, y’all behave and say hello if you see us out in the “Field” (what I call being “ingame”) and if I can help with DPS, let me know. Jonãs is getting “itchy” for a good fight.

Weekend’s coming up, and I wish you all a pleasant one!

My friend Nightsong. I hope you’re still writing and getting as much enjoyment out of it as I did reading your stories. I’ve been fortunate enough to have read some of Channyn’s work, and she has really made the class she’s taking work for her.

I would like very much to continue reading yours, my friend! How can we do that and me no longer in The Lounge? If you can think of a way, please let me know. I know I am probably dreaming, but if and when I have to “check out”, I sure would like to go knowing I have three of my favorite writers, (You, Simply Red, and Channyn) getting your writing submitted and published!

Just letting you know you haven’t been forgotten - you three - and all my other friends in The Lounge!

I am and I do really enjoy what I write… even if I keep making myself cry at times.

That’s awesome to hear.

Realistically I probably need to go back to school, but even with all the progress I’ve made in therapy I still can’t bring myself to do that. The dread that just writing that fills me with is troubling enough.

Well I’ve been trying to plot something out that might be safe to post here. But, if not I might have to finally make a bloody account somewhere and start posting there. I’d share that with this thread if/when it happens… there’s that dread again…

:sob: hitting me where it hurts you know… Right in the feelings.

 Thanks, it means a lot. Nor have you been, by the way. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

You just made my whole weekend, Nightsong! Thanks for writing back!

I need to correct something I wrote upthread about Simply Red. She has actually been published, so I’ll just wish her continued success in her endeavors - whatever they may be.

And I’ll be as close as…here, and anxiously awaiting your literary creations - literally!:+1:

High today of 83 in West Georgia. I hope it’s nice where you live. After getting in some time with Jonãs in the cavern, one of my neighbors is bringing over his acoustic and he and I plan to do a little pickin’ ‘n grinnin’. I haven’t played in so long I’ll have to get the callouses all over again.

Any other musically inclined folks here? If so, what are some of your (what I call) favorite “campfire” songs? I’m hoping y’all will name some I don’t know and whose tabs/chords I can look up and learn.

The last time I played with a bunch of folks, the kids all wanted to hear “Yellow Submarine”, so that’s one I know and it’s a good sing-along one as well.

We’ll sit out on the porch with some cold beverages and hope to attract some other folks who live around here. A banjo-picker would be nice.

I remember in our younger days “She…” and I used to put some gas in the car and just go ridin’. I wonder if people still do that - just ride around in the country and say “moo” to the cows?:grin:

I think he’s singing, “Don’t drink, don’t smoke Watch who you do

But She thinks it’s “What do you do?”

I purposely didn’t look up the lyrics just to see what anyone else might come up with.

Know any other “Misheard Lyrics”?

“There’s a bathroom on the right” is one of my favorites. You?

I love John and CCR, so you nailed my favorite, Jonãs :+1: . Hope everyone is doing well. I’m still hanging in.

Been missing you, Phara, so I am glad you replied.

You know, when of the things I enjoyed about The Lounge is being able to play music and maybe do a little “teaching” right along with the songs I might feature.

One of those that I never got a chance to talk about was the song “Mack The Knife”, do you know it?

As you listen, it will tell you a story which had its beginning as a play called The Three-Penny Opera, I won’t explain the whole thing to you, but I’ll provide link and let you all read up on it, if you choose to.

Many people think the play is about “Jack The Ripper”, but that’s not correct. Once you read the synopsis, you’ll know exactly how MacHeath (sp changed to emphasize the nickname) came to be and how and why the play and later, the film was such a huge world-wide success.

I hope this works for you, and that you, Phara, my friend, will find it interesting.

So here’s the song, (you may have heard it, but didn’t know the story). Then skip forward and read, if interested.

If this gets me in hot water, so be it. I love music and teaching about it. If this doesn’t show (and it doesn’t, on my end). I guess if you’re interested, just do a search on 3-Penny Opera.

Currently listening to the Top 100 Television Theme Songs. When you’re 74 there’s a bunch of 'em to remember, and they do make you smile.

You younguns probably don’t know about the greatest marine philosopher of all time, Popeye The Sailor. What did he say that was was so philosophical?

So you don’t go running to your Encyclopedia Britannica, I’ll tell you.

“I yam what I yam” *

And there’s no arguing with logic like that. I would have loved to hear Spock say that. Whilst wiggling them ears!:+1:

My dear friend Nightsong - thank you for the likes. I want to be president of your fan club - would you mind?

If you did that kinda stuff whose fan club would you (the collective you - not just my friend) like to be president of?

Beside my friend here, I think I’d like to be Keanu’s fan club president. He and Hanx have to be a couple of the nicest guys in Tinseltown.

And ja, I know I ended that sentence up there with a preposition!:roll_eyes::blush::+1:

Or how about here? Got anyone in mind? I have several and they know who they are, too.:wink::+1:

  • If you listen closely to Popeye’s “under the breath muttering” you’re likely to hear some adult humor creeping in every once in a while. Same with Rocky & Bullwinkle. Y’all know where Bullwinkle went to college, right?

“Gimmee gimmee gimmee fried chicken!”

And then, “Sharif, he don’t like it…wash the cat box. Wash the cat box.”

We sing that last one when we’re cleaning out the cat box, clearly. grins

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. Got busy with life, then got sick–of course. So dealing with all of that right now and just trying to rest and take it easy as we have John’s Aunt coming in this weekend. Hoping to be at least 60% by then. Hopefully 80% by the start of next week. But right now, I am just feeling like Bantha poodoo. Ugh. Cough, sniffles, achy joints, but no COVID. So…yay? I guess? And no fever, either, even though last night I was a ball of sweat for a while. THAT was fun (not).

Thanks for continuing to show up and keep this place alive. I am so looking forward to being able to share more things with you again soon.

Much love and lots of good vibes so none of you get sick! :purple_heart:

Of course, sometimes it’s all I have the time for, but I try to support my friends as much as I can… wish there were more hours in the day, or that I didn’t need to sleep as many… maybe both… yeah both is good… probably.

 I’m not sure how to respond to the idea of having a fan club… but if it makes you happy go right ahead.

Same to you, hope you get better sooner. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

That top one, I don’t get to which song that misheard lyric applies, Channyn. The second, “Rockin’ The Casbah”.

“Another Brick In The Wall” … Everyone can guess how that lyric changed, right? I don’t wanna get flagged. :sunglasses::+1:

The thing with music and “power phrases”… I can’t think of another generic concept/word for them… is people often make associations the original writers or creators never imagined.

I’m not going to go into some of the phrases I don’t like to use anymore. Because they’ve been coopted by people to no longer be about just standing up for yourself or being stronger. They are used to justify racism and bigotry in general…

At times it feels like a personal assault because something I once identified with has been perverted into something I would never, intentionally at least, support.

Nightsong. Good Morning, my friend. Song titles and lyrics. There is one song that popped into my mind immediately, about which I had a distressing feeling. It was Jump by Van Halen.

I know the video showed something different, but the words! The title and the words in the chorus really bothered me. With the subject being a guy standing against a juke box, and talking about his looks and wishing for a dance with someone, why not use “DANCE!” or something similar?

My opinion only, friends. Your mileage…
