One plot device at a time; she would have to choose magic-suddenly-flying-galleon over mass teleportation of civilians.
We all know the answer, you just have to search through your heart, for you know it too. It’s:
Even with the explanation of a really giant tree, it’s not portrayed very well in any form of media, and only raises more scrutiny over the whole thing.
Oh come on, we know she’s fully capable of walking around teleporting people out. How easily she could have walked through Teldrassil while screaming THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! YOU BROUGHT THIS ON YOURSELVES! and teleport them to the Violet Ho…er…Stormwind! Yeah that’s the place. I mean she could do it with Blood Elves why not Night Elves! Lazy that one, off playing with Daddy’s ship when a tree was burning! Shame on her!
That is a reasonable point. But I do remember lots of haters complaining that “Thrall didn’t stop Theramore!” when he was literally alone on the far side of the planet in the middle of the ocean.
The War Of Thorns lasted weeks, and Jaina can teleport wherever she wants because she’s the undisputed queen of teleportation. Except when it comes to teleporting Night Elf civilians to safety of course.
Because orbital bombardment is stupidly hard to pull off and will never be as effective as everyone seems to think? The Vindicaars strongest cannon takes several seconds to break through solid rock at a couple meters away, do to the way lasers work it will get weaker as it travels through the atmosphere, to the point it will no longer be capable of actually hurting anyone (Assuming that it even could make landfall and not completely dissipate). Then we get into the issues of actually aiming the damn thing, ignoring how i dont believe it has many of it’s powerful guns on the bottom of the ship (Making bombardment basically impossible from such a high altitude) aiming from orbit is tricky. The alliance doesn’t have a large number of satellites and advanced computer networks, so they would need to manually plant beacons (something that is still done by actual militaries IRL) in order to have any kind of actual accuracy.
The Vindicaar isn’t useless, if they bring it down it is a good seige weapon, if a vulnerable one do to how delicate Eredar ships are, and would make a spy satilate (Tracks the movements of enemy armies) and troop transport, but it’s not a “Win the war right now” type of tool.
The real strength of the Vindicaar is its teleporters, if it works like in the game it can bring troops anywhere. But that would be something too smart to use for Blizzard.
Especially since they had a perfectly good AZERITE WAR MACHINE they kept hyping up that could have done the job and actually sold us on the power of these weapons.
Yeah the timeline here doesn’t really help Jaina, since if she doesn’t know about Teldrassil then she was planning to start the faction war herself by launching a terrorist attack on Lorderon.
She must have heard that when Genn did it, he wasn’t punished in any way, so suicide bombing is what the Alliance is all about now. (Like that Lightforged wacko in 8.1.5)
