It's time to admit M+ and tank changes have made this season DOA

Nerfed the duration and self sustain of everything. BDK got hit with a sustain nerf to where you can’t spam Deathstrike on the same target, you have to tab target now, oh no!!!

BDK can just go Runetap if they really need to.

They nerfed lots of tank “self sustain” and mitigation like prot warrs impending victory. Blizzard thought tanks were too self sufficient so they wanted healers to be part of keeping a tank alive

If you’re DPS and you’re not running your own group you need to stop complaining about declines.

Your 606 ilvl is nothing.

Literally every single time I post a group on my tank there are 100+ DPS, do you honestly think people even see your name before the group fills and is delisted? I can’t remember a single time I even made it through a 1/4 of the list before I filled the group.

You can really tell who has never even tried to host a group even once when they post crap like this.

If you want to get into a group as DPS you need to grow a thicker skin and learn to apply for groups as soon as they get posted not some 4/5 group.

M+ is the most popular end game content in any mmo in history by any conceivable metric. Participation, seasonal retention, even in surveys.

I don’t get the pathological hatred some people have for it at all. They want it to fail. Why would anyone want anything in a game to fail so badly? It’s super weird.

Delves are basically what old dungeons used to be. A chill sort of stepping stone from leveling to doing endgame. You do a few to get some champ pieces, then you move on. It’s nice. People have been asking for that for a long time. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Oh that’s why i’m having so much trouble tanking compared to Legion

The majority do dungeons which is what M+ is based off, so much like raiding it really doesn’t matter that only 35% ish do M+ or 5% mythic raid, cause in the scheme of things the major cost is the base content, which 70-90% of people do (specially now with dungeons and followers)

The problem is many of those same players are then trying to do keys beyond their skill level and failing.

The iLevel they got from Delves put many in a mind set that they could “skip the line” and jump right to higher keys then they should be doing.

“The most”?

who are ‘the most’, Nermans?

as in the largest number of keys, more than any other key level, was 18

Ideally, Blizzard should satisfy every player/customer if it can, which is impossible.

M+ players or Mythic raiders don’t pay more subs than others. From a business point of view, they are exactly the same as any other players.

So if Blizzard has to “focus” resources, then of course it should focus on making majority player base happy, to keep as many subs as possible.

Nobody knows for sure what majority players want. But it is safe to say, most players want better QoL change, more friendly community and more choices.

Is this really happening that much? If it is, how is it more of a problem with delves in the picture than, say, S4 with bullion in the picture?

How is it different from any season before S4 of DF when people would just skip right over the 0-10 range?

the other two blizzard can provide, this is on the community though

And what would that look like?

Like everyone levels from 70 to 80, clearly, 100% of the resources should be focused on leveling content.

Tanking is rough right now for a few reasons.

I’m a 609 20% Versa Brewmaster - I’m getting my cheeks clapped in 7’s right now on Fortified week

and #2 - we are still early into the season. People are still learning.
This applies to all roles.

Earlier, I did a +7 GB and pulled first pack +Drake and it went without a single issue…
Then I did a +3 and 1DPS+healer got knocked off the edge and blamed me (as tank) for pulling drake with the pack - but they didn’t know to LoS the knockback or position themselves properly. ……and they blamed me.

I love Brewmaster tanking playstyle. Not as much as other classes though. But i’m staying as pug tank for 5-7’s. I don’t really have a team to play with privately.

:dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

I would disagree. Gearing in delves as opened up mythic plus faster than ever before.

This leads to geared players (tanks, healers, and dps) entering a +5 they know next to nothing about because it’s week two and most players have seen the “mythic” mechanics maybe three times (let’s say a player ran Tirna twice last week and once this week - and assume they did NOT play shadowlands).

That is a steep learning curve as players enter 7s and 8s. By 10s you definitely expect to know the dungeons. But again, most players haven’t played these dungeons on repeat for very long so pathing (which frankly is straight forward this season) and knowledge of fights (hello change to third boss in Siege - that second wave….first time seeing it, I thought the game broke) is going to be more challenging then any previous season.

Not break the game challenging, but Blizzard really should have given players m0s for 2 or more weeks FIRST before releasing mythic plus. Now players are learning mechanics in keys instead of the original knowledge being learned in 0s.

Apples to Oranges to the extreme. This is the first “real” season with the new M+ scaling and Delves. (Season 4 is an outlier for multiple reasons).

With a 0 being more like a 10 skipping the line to a 6 or higher would be like skipping right to a 16 or higher in DF Season 1 not 0 to 10 as you say.

They’re trying to skip because they look at the iLevel they got from Delves and then at the end of Dungeon chest from M+ and assume they should be doing 7’s and higher for Hero Track gear.

Then they come to the forums to complain when they can’t get in keys or when they do get in they fail.

Where are you getting these numbers? Blizzard hasn’t released sub-numbers for years.

This is a prime textbook definition of circular reasoning. You fabricated a “fact” to base an interpretation of data on.

Here are the actual facts:

  • Only Blizzard knows the real numbers behind the scenes.
  • Blizzard, who we can all agree is money hungry, makes decisions based on what will make them the most money.

Why would Blizzard, for several expansions, continue to spend a large portion of their development time and effort into M+ if only a “small portion” of the population participate in it? All the objective facts discount your opnions that you are trying to pass off as “fact”.

Well I agree that it isn’t a 1:1 comparison but don’t think it is exactly apples and oranges.

People have been reaching above their means for gear in every form of content that has ever existed.

This argument would also indicate that M+ should be as or more active than ever. So is M+ dead because of delve loot or is there an epidemic of people in delve gear flooding keys? Hard to be both.

Imo, I’m having way more fun as a tank now. Pressing buttons does something and it feels good.

I personally would play more tank if blizz got rid of the lockout system. It would be a positive if they did as I feel it would push more content.
