That one is SUPER easy compared to this one.
It's That Time of the Year Again: Remove School of Hard Knocks from Children's Week Meta Achievement
The hardest one for me was the warsong one because everyone camps the base and clicking that flag before someone does can be hard.
Yeah I think you can just get the costume and hide somewhere in AV and never fight a single person and still get the honor kills you need. It’s not like Hard Knocks which requires you to actually work against your own team to get the achievements
This particular achievement should never have been included in the meta, it was always sorely out of place with all the other achievements. Hell, even the “pvp” achieves for other holidays weren’t really pvp (I mean, I’m absolutely NOT in any way a pvp’er, and even I was able to get those done pretty easily) and the School of Hard Knocks should have only been included under some sort of pvp-exclusive achievement.
As for ‘not wanting to work for the hard stuff’ nonsense… What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been IS a lot of work that takes a ton of time and effort to complete. It was completely unnecessary to throw in a massive pvp roadblock for a meta that is 99% NOT pvp related at all.
Non-pvp players were miserable trying to do it, pvp players were miserable dealing with all the clueless non-pvp’ers swarming the BGs for the entire week, and removing this single achievement from the meta is a GOOD thing for everyone involved. The whole point of a video game is for it to be fun, and this achievement was anything but fun for the vast majority of players.
It says a lot that the people who insist on keeping it also got it from win trading with the other faction instead of actually doing it the intended way
It lists me as having completed all the requirements for that one, but it isn’t highlighted and hasn’t gone to the top. It’s like it’s in a weird limbo.
It really isn’t.
We still have the achievement. They didn’t remove the achievement from the game, they just removed it from the meta.
The achievement isn’t “hard” in difficulty. It’s “hard” because you have to race to be the first one to assault a flag in AV, AB, etc. This creates a toxic environment in the bg where people throw temper tantrums and practically afk if they aren’t the ones who got it, in hopes the opposite faction cap it so they can recap it. Or leave immediately after getting it, etc.
I got the achievement years ago, and I didn’t personally have a problem with it being required. But I’m also not going to throw a fit because they did, because it’s still a good change.
You literally admitted you cheesed it, and on top of that, you admitted you essentially gave the achievement to free to a horde member in the same post. So you don’t have an issue with the achievement being “easy” to get, as long as it’s done through cheese or what is essentially win trading? (which, I might add, is against the terms of use) I also might add, the achievement was not made easier to get. You still have to do the same thing to get it. It’s just not required for the meta.
This is like being proud of getting Honor 500, but you did it when people exploited the honor system in BFA during the Darkshore Warfront.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with making things easier as time goes on. This is something I’ve said about the Mage Tower many times as well.
Personally, I found GNERD rage harder (Halloween). Getting 10 HKs without losing the buff constantly is a PITA if you’re not a geared pvper.
I love it, we need more of this gorgeous little interactions, and more featuring neat characters from both factions.
I enjoy that cinematic where a human and orc are fighting, then someone else enters the fight (Was it the MoP cinematic?) and they just kinda stare at each other, the human hands the orc a weapon and they turn to fight the 3rd together.
Always made me laugh.
Congrats you captured a flag in a battle ground, you really grit your teeth and pulled those boot straps. Now with this change how will my BGs be filled with people fighting each other more than the enemy team. In short this achievement isn’t hard, it’s just a crapshoot attached to a timed event. But seeing as you think earning the rocket is some feat of strength I would guess you also think only real players get good titanforge. People want to do more with their time than waste it in BGs for an event.
Yes, this little thing is a follow up to that. For pure story on a small scale the MoP cinematic is one of the best.
Fantastic. This one achievement is the reason I never bothered trying for the violet proto Drake. Six month subbed!
I wonder what this achievement is that everyone has difficulty completing looks up the achievement in game, notices i got it in 2011 Oh this achievement was easy… at least for a pvper like myself. Well if this prevents pve players from flooding the bgs and throwing for the achieve then i guess everyone wins.
My favorite cinematic, both for the visuals and the story, will always be the Talador finale.
Maraad’s sacrifice, Blackhand underestimating that a Draenei and Orc would work together, etc.
Kinda gold to come on a thread talking about “”“participation trophy generation”"" and then blatantly admit you engaged in anti-PvP behavior
As someone who completed the achievement the “right way” the first time it came around back in 2009 (because I was kind of a PvP nut back then), maybe a couple years too late, but a welcome fix nonetheless.
Not only the achievement was hard to obtain by those who don’t PvP often (or don’t enjoy PvP), it also disrupted BGs for those who like to PvP, as people would usually zerg the one objective and then /afk out (and leaving the rest of the team hanging) when they eventually failed at getting the objective. Both sides would end up getting screwed.
Thank you. Please keep these quality changes up for the sake of the game and the community.
I get from where you come from but this is an awful achievement. I have written about it a few days ago but see it from a game design approach:
Every seasonal quest (Winter, Summer, …) is either a cooperative or single player activity which can be achieved within a low entry level. When it comes to “School of Hard Knocks” you force inexperienced players into battlegrounds who need to complete to get certain tasks down. Not only disrupts this the BG experience for both sides but also is too steep for the intended difficulty level.
It’s good that you got it but it was faulty game design to begin with.
I might be wrong because it has been a long time but I don’t think you need to actually kill anyone yourself. Honor kills count as long as someone in the group killed someone
You don’t, but it’s still annoying to get HKs in general in some bgs. Lol.
Much more painful than the Christmas one for me.
I admit I cheesed it. I don’t recall. I know that the one I did it on. I hid under a dock or in the water or something basically made myself scarce. Which is the exact opposite of Blizzard intends you to do, but I am glad they are remove this meta. I am really tired of forced PVP for the sake of PVP. That was least favorite part of MoP when getting the cloak.
We cheesed the heck out of that too. Did two pregens and then had people the options that you could choose your opposing teams. People would go in and get their kills and then swap factions would kill the others. I hate being forced to do PvP for the sake of plot. It’s dumb and frustrating.
I have had it for 11 years. I worked hard on it, but just everything in game. Whether it was dual-specing, keymaster, or some other achievement. Sooner or later it needs to evolve.
