It's That Time of the Year Again: Remove School of Hard Knocks from Children's Week Meta Achievement

personally, i agree with you. not every day a tauren and a gnome can agree on common ground, without the latter getting punted. but seriously, i, myself have every other achievement in [For the Children] EXCEPT the [School of Hard Knocks] achievement. so, i can relate to the same frustration. y’know, maybe the peace that was declared between Horde and Alliance since the fall of N’zoth won’t be so bad, after all. still bitter about what your faction did to my people in Taurajo, though

Breaking away from the objective to get the achievement? All criteria needed to earn this achievement is checked off by actually participating and doing activities that you are supposed to do to win the BG. For example:

  • Capture the flag in Eye of the Storm
  • Assault a tower in Alterac Valley
  • Assault a flag in Arathi Basin
  • Return a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch

This is not breaking away from the objectives in any of these BGs…

I know big fella, that was a real version of hard knocks. Makes you feel better, when I’m playing Horde I feel the same way. I say, lets just move past that road in Outland paved with the skulls of dead Draenei and find a new road to the future… :sunglasses:

It is if you halt all progress in the bg.

It leads to people not doing the BG and stacking inside the base to try and kill flag carriers or focusing on the flag in the middle of the BG instead of controlling bases in Eye of the Storm. It makes the already uncoordinated random BGs even more uncoordinated and leads to losses because everyone has tunnel vison

That’s not even a thing.

well, at least when the cross-faction stuff goes live, our two factions can group up at a tavern and settle our differences over a pint, or two, or three. card-carrying Brew of the Month Club member

This is a forum based off of opinions. Thanks for calling out my screw up just now. It was kind of you. But for real, knock it off!

I got mine a long time ago (either WOTLK or Cata era). Would benefit everyone if they removed the requirements for this achievement and the mount.

Only one person can assault a tower at a time. It literally takes people out of the BG because you have to stay there and defend it. You are also fighting against other people of the same faction to get the achievement done. It’s worse than Korrak’s Revenge because people will literally ignore the raid 100% and not be doing any objectives other than to take the tower.

However, this Alterac is easier than the Warsong Gultch win, in which once again you are fighting agaist the other faction and other members of your faction.

As someone who did that Achievement Years ago, I honestly am thrilled that’s it’s getting removed now. I got lucky because in the WSG match I got mine in; no one was fighting. Just taking turns picking up and dropping the Flag, both Horse and Alliance.

I had so much respect for the BOTH Factions that year. It was conducted with Civility. The PVPers let it happen because they knew the sooner everyone got the Achievement, the quicker they got their BG’s back.
