It's ridiculous how paranoid you people are

Hmmmm.
Contemplates all of the schmucks that behaved poorly, ended up in the news and lost their jobs over the past 3 years.

It still has never showed up for me.

edit: Lol right after I typed this and logged in it popped up.

You’re honestly incapable of not being rude in WoW?

Again, if you cannot perceive a reality where you cannot belittle/insult/upset others, you should seek therapy. That’s not healthy.

How about the old rule of people in glass houses refraining from throwing stones?

Like when you are abusive to staff, commit crimes in the market, and then put in laughable expectations in your social contract to create some hand holding Utopia where the hyper-sensitive politicized wing you’re catering to doesn’t use the expanded report function to be vigilant. Save your sermon.

In my experience the most toxic the FFXIV community gets is when you criticize anything about that game’s story.

tbf both FFXIV and WoW are way less toxic than a lot of games I’ve played…

like Pokemon. Those poison type pokemon are bastards.

Far left and far right are the fringe terms. Alt right is a self named group that has a bit of a different take on the right than the rest of the far right. There is no self appointed alt left counterpart.

None of that has to do with the thread though - rules are not some oppressive government and manners are not political.

Very well said. Thank you.

There is no “Alt-right.” You listen to the fear mongering media WAAAAY too much. But I’m sure it got you involved, didn’t it? A good recruitment phrase.

What does that retort even mean?

please explain.

Here’s some amazing irony.

There are people here who identify as left who are defending a corporation that abuses it’s workers while underpaying them, then laying them off while funneling record profits to the top.

2 layers of transparency. Using “moral” justification.

That’s exactly what this is all boiling down too.

They have no power or prominence. Besides, I obviously and very clearly said that they were using it as an umbrella term. But, if we’re going to look at an appropriate analog, then it’d probably be fringe groups like Antifa. Sure, they wouldn’t call themselves Alt-Left, but the mold fits pretty well.

Rules by their very nature are meant to oppress and govern, for better or worse. I understand the point you’re trying to make, but it’s completely unrealistic.

They can be. Do you ever get the feeling to give a good ol’ roman salute? No? Well, that’s probably because it’s political, and outdated. But, at one point were appropriate manners.

I think what you were trying to say is that decency shouldn’t be political, and that’s a fair point.

Fun fact. I don’t identify as either and am not politically active.

There certainly are people here who do label others though. Manners are not political, nor are basic rules.

I also strongly dislike corporate abuse and have loudly spoken up about that too. Again, treating workers right should not be political.

Sure, I can go with that. Decency does not mean someone agrees with another person, or has to like them. They just have to refrain from name calling, slurs, profanity, abuse, etc.

I absolutely agree here. Which, I think most people did anyways, but as soon as people feel like they’re being put in a box, or being called out for things they never did… then we start to see a lot of backlash, just like we are now.

Not particularly referring to you. The hit dog will holler.

No one is innocent of that. No one.

That’s good. Then you can admit that a company that engages in such behavior should save the grandstanding and clean up their own closet first?

Translation: “If I can find a way to blame somebody else as an excuse for my abusive behavior, I can and should be able to get away with absolutely anything I think those weaklings deserve!”

And of course, you can always find somebody somewhere as an excuse - or even a moral imperative - to behave badly.

I have not once in 15 years been punished for abusing someone in game. Who do you work for?

Accusing others of being abusive for citing facts about the one YOU are defending. Cute.

You must know Icaanul really well in person to make such a statement about their character like that. Why is it all the white knights are so quick to assume just because someone disagrees with the methods or content of blizzard’s decision, we must be the worst people on earth?

Are blizzard brownie points worth more tha that oh so golden “Just don’t be a jerk” because well… you have become that which you swore to destroy.
