It’s ok, you can breathe you wont be banned for it.
The new social contract is nothing crazy. It’s simply suggesting that you dont be a douche to others.
Dont want to group with the other faction? Check the box they literally gave you that says you dont.
Dont want to help someone in the open world who pulled too much? So dont. You wont get banned.
Want to kick this guy because he ignores mechanics, does mediocre dps and dies 2 mins into the fight? So kick him, you wont get banned.
If youre honestly worried about getting banned just dont say anything if you cant be chill. Dont tell people they are garbage.
If this new contract changes the way you play and interact with others, then you NEEDED to change.
Its simple etiquette. Relax ffs.

I think that’s called ‘being murdered.’

Point was, treating everyone like they are a jerk by default is a bad way to roll out your brand new ~anything~

This isn’t public. This is a private establishment with rules.

I think it’s the current political environment in America right now.
So many companies vying for the most woke, people afraid to speak their minds because they could lose their jobs.
Social media has ’ social contracts ', and they enforce rules that favor a certain ideology.
I think people are just afraid that will come to this game, ruining something they used as a vacation from real life, and to just have fun.
The fact that the new contract is so vaguely worded is worrying some people.
Frankly, if you thought WoW was toxic before, just introduce a system that will allow vindictive people the power to be vindictive, and watch what happens.
Nothing may come of this. Who knows.

Where did they treat anyone like a jerk?

To be fair, it is kind of crazy. However, it is also highly normalized.
Not to be dramatic, but, every dictatorship throughout history agrees with you. Is this fair? not even remotely, but it’s still a sad comparison that can easily be made.
This is also correct.
Oddly enough, the extremist religious right of the 80’s and early 90’s would have absolutely loved this social contract.
You still aren’t wrong, but it is interesting to think about.

ok so… you go into a restaurant and they shove a paper in your face and say “Don’t be a jerk, sign this or get out” and you’d be cool with that?

I’ll just keep wandering around Azeroth, waving hand like a Jedi knight and not saying a world. I don’t even see much people anyway, outside of capital cities. lol Just did a couple Vanilla zones and saw max. 5 people. I started Outlands yesterday and so far I have seen nobody in Hellfire Peninsula. So yeah, social contract not worrying me much as it doesn’t change much to my WoW experience.
